He's comfortably the best midfielder at the club. Should start every week in the prem from now on, starting Sunday.

our 3rd best player, comfortably
Skipp and Hojbjerg offer plenty of cover between them to make up for his defensive deficiencies, and he offers more going forward than all the alternatives combined. He has to play otherwise Spurs have absolutely no progressive movement or passing in midfield.
Not sure Nuno will use one of the hardest games of the season to blood Ndombele in the Prem though...

yeah I think he'll play as safe as possible on Sunday, so wouldn't be at all surprised to see the same midfield 3.
However with potentially Bergwijn, Lucas, Son all unavailable, we're pretty short further up the pitch, so it's possible we'll see in in some sort of number 10 role, or with Dele pushed further up and Tanguy taking the CM spot.
Who knows!
He is a total class above anything else we have in CM. He has to play. Every game
He is unbelievably talented, but has to work harder. His control is Dembele level but defensively he needs to do more.
He is though legitimately capable of becoming a world class player, the raw talent is incredible.

That's the thing - with that level of talent you have to take the rough with the smooth to some extent, and let him play the way that comes naturally to him. He's not going to suddenly become a tougher tackler if he's wasting away on the bench getting more and more disenchanted by the week.
I know the popular narrative is that he's lazy/a problem character but I don't think there's ever actually been anything confirmed to suggest he's ever shown dissent or caused internal issues. He seems a bit precious, maybe, but again. Rough with the smooth. If a manager had the balls to get him on the pitch regularly his ceiling is absolutely absurd. Notably his last two managers are known for playing very conservative, low risk midfield - and even then he showed a lot of positive signs under Mourinho.
We need him in the team and we need him fighting for the cause. Hoddle was spot on with his assessment last night. He looks incredible in parts but is he a player a manager can hang his hat on for the season and rely on him for consistent performances? Probably not. He's always going to have the attitude that he's the best player on the pitch, demonstrated last night by him shaking his head when Stevie failed to control the ball that he clipped over to him, but who else have we got?
Needs to start against Chelsea.
He is basically Pogba in a Spurs shirt perhaps with less vision and passing ability. But similar traits are there.
I would start him. Another thing is he's actually someone who can chip in with goals more than other players on the pitch.

And never mind all this, I saw him doing a huge amount of defensive work, clearances in our own box, making tackles etc. The one tackle he didn't make, they score from and again its "he needs to do more". Ridiculous

He does either have to do more or the side have to be able to cope with the defensive deficiency. Poch got this, Jose didn’t and Nuno looks a bit confused as well.
No way can we have 3 up top and then Dele and Tanguy in the same midfield, we would be over run. Tanguy will dominate against bottom 10 Prem sides and European fodder, but when has he ever done that for us against City, United, Liverpool or Chelsea - that’s where he has to do more. Kane and Son do more by creating chances as well as scoring and they are our two best players, no excuses for Tanguy.

No need for Dele. Tanguy + 2 DMs should be fine. 2 DMs! I remember when DM wasn't even a recognised position, then it became fine to have 1 sitting DM. Now we are basically saying we need 2 DMs plus the CAM having to all win tackles?
Surely out of 11 players, we can let the 2 wingers + CAM + ST focus primarily on attacking and the other 7 primarily focus on defending?

The games changed, you have strikers like Firminho where there strength lies in pressing which creates dangerous turnovers of possession. These days your full backs are your creative players and wide forwards need to be great pressers. Your striker has to be able to drop in and create as a 10 and the Midfield needs to score regularly. CB’s have to be great in possession and Keepers have to be arguably the most accurate passer in the side
Ndombele reminds me a lot of Adel Taarabt.
I think management need to decide whether he is good enough to build a team around.
QPR got the best out of Taarabt by basically playing through him and telling him not to bother tracking back and the other players were happy to do the dirty work as they knew he would do the business up the other end.
I think if we are going to play Ndombele we need to do something similar or just bin him off as it is just a waste of time for everyone otherwise.

Dele best contributions have been defensively this season
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree, but that itself is worrying, as other than the Pen at Wolves he has contributed little going forwards. I would like a midfielder who can do both, we should have cloned Dembele
This might sound strange, as like you all, I see the same potential ceiling that N'Dombele clearly could have, but there is something about him that I am really struggling to like.
He never seems like he's enjoying playing! He looks to me like he'd rather be anywhere but out playing, whenever I see him. I don't know if that's just my bad perception, but I have found myself thinking this quite frequently.
It seems to me that most of the criticisms of Ndombele are what he does tracking back off the ball. Here's a good idea, why don't we control a game more so that's less of an issue?
Our last two managers were and are conservative, worried about plugging leaks at the back, worried about what we do off the ball, playing consistently with 2-3 holding players all the time. That's just asking for trouble. There are ways of working hard that doesn't mean every attacking player has to sit on the edge of their own box all the time.
If we played on the front foot more with a high press intent, we could win the ball back higher and those attacking players will have the ball in the right areas. That's the kind of hard work that would suit Ndombele more as if it doesn't quite come off, he's still 50-60 yards from his own goal. I feel sorry for the guy. He's super talented and he's just had two lame ass managers that are too busy focusing on what he doesn't do off the ball to see what he does on it. You know that if this were Poch or Redknapp, they'd have him as THE go to player and they'd make sure that he had runners around him to help him out defensively. He's too good to just cast aside. He's one of those players that you have to find a way of fitting him in. Even I'd had enough of his attitude lately but seeing him last night proved just how much we need him, and even then we struggled to draw.
He's a brilliant player and we've got the wrong manager for him. Sorry, he seems like a nice guy and I'm sure you'll all think I'm jumping the gun but Nuno is not the right man for this club. Potter was the one. Crazy he wasn't in the equation.

Ironically Dembele didn't score or assist. So as much as I rated Dembele I think some have a very exaggerated view of his contributions. Wanyama and Eriksen were just as key in his best season.

God, I hate stats like this. It's naive to suggest that a midfielder should be measured by goals and assists alone. Do you have any idea how many times he would have dragged up the pitch on a mazy run, gone past a couple of players and then laid it off to Eriksen to assist. He's the assister of the assister if you like. He was just as valuable as any of the other top players we had. Without him we wouldn't have made the transition from defence to attack nearly as often as we did.

He is unbelievably talented, but has to work harder. His control is Dembele level but defensively he needs to do more.
He is though legitimately capable of becoming a world class player, the raw talent is incredible.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What's lazy is fans saying "he needs to do more defensively". Why should he? It's not his game. You don't say a CB needs to score more goals.
And never mind all this, I saw him doing a huge amount of defensive work, clearances in our own box, making tackles etc. The one tackle he didn't make, they score from and again its "he needs to do more". Ridiculous
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He does either have to do more or the side have to be able to cope with the defensive deficiency.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No need for Dele.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The games changed, you have strikers like Firminho where there strength lies in pressing which creates dangerous turnovers of possession.

Dele works very hard

But is limited from a defensive point of view. We can’t have 2 very attack minded FB in Royal and Reggie, then Tanguy and Dele in Midfield and Kane, Son and Lucas up top.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wouldn't say he's problematically limited from a defensive point of view
