Why is Royal an upgrade on Aurier?

Gonna give a shout out to PEH. He may not be the best midfielder in the league but he does a good job week in week out for us. Always available and gives 100% every match.
Would like to know the extent of Moura and Berg's injuries as well. Hopefully they just picked up knocks and will be back soon.
I know some have said Dele's time is up but he will get better as time goes on in his new position. I really hope I am not proved wrong.
I want Rodon back in the first 11 next to Romero. Sorry but look closely at the first two goals and Dier is at fault.
The second goal, the OG, he is too flakey. The ball goes straight through him.

To be fair, I was at the the game and I haven't seen any TV footage/replays yet - I can't face them! - so maybe Dier was flaky as you say.
He's still done well so far this season though. I'm afraid that I don't think Rodon is ready. I was at the Palace game last week and his "defending" to allow Eduard to waltz in a score was extremely poor to say the least.

He gets a pass for last week as he came on a sub and for Eduaord's goal the whole team had given up. Don't forget he had Winks on the pitch too so in terms of being helped out by the midfield that was never gonna happen.
Come to think of it. There's another positive. Winks gas not played a minute in the last two games.
Hopefully Nuno has found out finally he cannot be trusted.
I have seen nothing from Royal to suggest he will offer much attacking threat, technically he looks quite limited, but he may well prove to have less defensive brain farts than Aurier over time.
PEH is bang average, over rated because he was cheap, yesterday he could not even do the basics and even attempt to close down the shot for their second goal, that goal was 100% down to him failing to do his job, and it is not the first time he has cost us goals either.
He whole squad is a complete mess, littered with mediocrity, players who can not last 90 mins and a lack of clear depth.
This mess is all on ENIC and Levy, we have a billion pound stadium, a £150m striker, all being overseen by pound shop owners.
Positives, I agree there are some:
Points wise we are not in a bad place if the aim is Europa/conference. However, a loss to Arsenal would be the first real dent on this.
We have had on paper some very difficult fixtures to start the season, Liverpool away aside our run over Xmas looks very promising as does our last 7/8 games
We have some good players.
The Euro conference is winnable even for this current side
Negatives:
We are shiiite to watch
We have regressed again
Levy still levy’s
Some of the players are nowhere near good enough
Nuno doesn’t know his best side/tactics yet - which is understandable and not a slight against him.
Strangely I saw more positives in yesterday's game than either of the two victories against Wolves and Watford. That first half should serve as the blueprint for preferred line up and tactics going forward. Players miss chances, it happens. What's more important is that we looked dangerous and on the front foot. Sure, we didn't have many shots on target but that's what happens when you have a worldy like Thiago Silva in the way. On another day we'd have scored, easily.
Then you have to factor in that it's Chelsea and whether we like it or not, they are the European Champions and were always my tip for the league this year from the off. They are rock solid and even if you look at you're best, they can make you look ordinary. They're not in our league so we shouldn't compare ourselves to them.
We were though, terrible in the second half and you can't ignore that. I think that's as much to do with personality and character than it is any tactical mistake. Tuchel saw they were outnumbered in midfield, changed it up but we didn't adapt. We should have known that was a possibility. Even then if you go 1-0 down then 2-0 down, heads shouldn't be dropping. The leaders, if there are any, should be shaking the shiiiit out of the players that drop their effort. There's not enough in the way of demands. Lloris and the backline should have been screaming at the centre halfs for not closing down Kante. It was a lucky deflection but he shouldn't have been allowed to get his shot off.
We lack leaders and where we do, the manager should be getting at them to foster leadership. Nuno just isn't that type.
It's not all doom and gloom. Sunday against Arsenal will tell us a lot about what we've learned from yesterday. Positives, sure, but you just can't ignore that capitulation.

I was very happy at half time. The team selection was spot on and it was an excellent performance against the best team in the league.
The second half was the complete opposite. It was atrocious and killed all that positivity. You could tell within a minute the team came out with a different negative mindset.
I think Sunday will be a good gauge whether we are improving. Will we be able to stand up to a hostile atmosphere and not retreat for most of the game?
Personally I predict we will wilt under the slightest bit of pressure and end up losing.

He's not pulled up any trees at all but then he's young. Certainly doesn't look remotely close to someone you'd consider to be of equivalent value to Lamela plus £30m.
Same applies to Royal to me. I'm not seeing any significant upgrade to Aurier or Doherty. Tanganga is better in that position for me.

Automatic asked our opinion of him as he hadn't seen much of him and I gave it. That opinion is based on the little we've all seen of him. I'm not saying he won't get better, just that I've not seen anything from either player that tells me they're close to an upgrade on what we had.
I had the same reservations about Doherty when he signed...
https://www.ja606.co.uk/articles/viewArticle/424898
...and look what happened. I want them to succeed as much as anyone but you can only judge on what you see. For me if either of them does come good it's likely to be Gil. Royal looks like he has a mistake in him and he's nowhere near as good as Aurier going forward. Again, that is based on the two games we've seen him play. It could change but for me Tanganga is still the better option. I'd read a lot of articles on Royal by reputable South American journalists who also can't really see why he is held in such high esteem.
No positives for me. Baffled as to how Spurs fans are content with getting smashed 3-0 home to your rivals. Regardless of Chelsea’s quality, that is simply unacceptable the way we collapsed once again. The main worry is we cash online muster an ok, but unspectacular 1st half football and still didn’t lay a finger on Chelsea barely. There is no positives from getting smashed 3-0 in our last 2 league games and barely look like scoring all season.

Pretty sure you said we would get beat before the game Don. Most fans know how average we are and how good they are. Of course no one is happy or content but what can you do? Why waste your energy when ENIC have neglected their duty to ensure we have a capable manager with a capable squad of competing at the highest level.

I liked the line up, but that doesn’t mean I should be happy getting smashed 3-0 at home. That’s probably our best line up bar Lucas Moura for Ali and we couldn’t even lay a touch on Chelsea. We were pathetic. We huffed and puffed, but barely looked like scoring and haven’t all season. What I find more baffling is the amount of Spurs fans on here pretty chuffed with getting battered 3-0 but having a “good” half of football. We become so small time and acceptable with mediocrity

No positives for me. Baffled as to how Spurs fans are content with getting smashed 3-0 home to your rivals. I'm pretty sure I saw a comment from you on the match thread stating how happy you were with the line up! Surely you at least agree that that is a positive and something to build on? Or have you changed your mind because of the inevitable defeat that followed?

I liked the line up, but that doesn’t mean I should be happy getting smashed 3-0 at home. That’s probably our best line up bar Lucas Moura for Ali and we couldn’t even lay a touch on Chelsea. We were pathetic. We huffed and puffed, but barely looked like scoring and haven’t all season. What I find more baffling is the amount of Spurs fans on here pretty chuffed with getting battered 3-0 but having a “good” half of football. We become so small time and acceptable with mediocrity
