Football aside......when dogs go up against lions dares only one outcome.
I watched the U23 game live on YouTube. I had planned to only watch the first half and then sit back and watch all of the Barca v Granada game.
The U23s were amazing in that first half. It was 4-0 at HT, so I decided to watch the second half as well.
Boy oh boy, have we got some stunning talent coming through. Reidy is doing a great job with the youngsters.
I watched the Barca v Granada second half. It was like watching paint dry. I have never seen a Barca team so bereft of ideas, slinging in centres hoping that someone can get on the end of them.
Long gone are the days of tiki taka where the ball was passed about almost nonchalantly and then an explosion of movement, slick one touch passing that usually ended up with the ball in the net. As I said on here at the time, Cloughie would have loved watching the game played on the floor like that.
In case you are wondering, it ended in a 1-1 draw, Barca equalising Granada's 2nd minute goal in the 88th minute.
I will also make a note of watching the U23s more regularly if they are putting the games live on YouTube. If you haven't seen them, they are certainly worth watching.

When you look at the current Barcelona team, while still a very good side, they are still a long way short of the side of 10-15 years ago. Looking at that side: Puyol, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, and of course Messi; most of them came through Barca's youth development system. As those fine players retired or moved on they have replaced them with expensive signings which haven't quite worked.
And thereby hangs a tale. Surely proof that the best way to have a very good team is to grow your own. We currently have that very good young crop who hopefully will form the basis of a very good team playing in the top tier, with maybe an expensive signing or two to provide the icing on a well baked cake.
Fans have to be patient and allow Murphy, Cooper, Brazil, and Reid to build a team we can be proud of over the next five years.
Today, agree we should start with the same eleven; and I think that is what Coops will do (barring injuries). Hvaing praised them he won't now drop anyone surely - that would be doubtful man-management.
Another 2-0 to the dogs
With past managerial appointments fans have been split between for and against with a large minority saying it was wrong and doomed to failure.
This time around it seems to me the new manager has an almost unanimous backing from the fans and the feeling is the most positive for a long time.
Agree Red, I feel pretty optimistic with this appointment, but I also did when CH was appointed. Yet again fingers crossed. I’m finding it more and more difficult to predict our matches, though tbf I have always erred on the side of ‘we’re going to get beat’, and the majority of times I was right. Assuming SC has watched the ‘Udders game and been guided, why would he change that formation and personnel ? Hopefully today will be a continuation of that type of performance and we’ll get another win. Millwall are very difficult to play against and I remember their lump of a centre forward bagging a first half hat trick a couple of seasons ago, though I’m not sure he’s still at the club. Having no idea of what SC will try today I’m going to continue with the optimistic approach and go for a 2-1 Garibaldi win. SC’s biggest job is to get us scoring goals, something CH couldn’t achieve, Grabban and Taylor certainly have the potential, and with Zinc’s, Lolley and a more attacking midfield I believe he can. The main question is what will the response be should we go behind? Better still let’s not find out and take the game to Millwall from the off. Let’s get moving up that table asap.
It was Matt Smith Dave. He's still there and started for them in their last League game. He hasn't scored for them this season, which is a worry.. That was the last game before the lockdown.
I'm sure today will go better than it did that day.
Same team as last week, same result 2-0 Forest
Zico’s back on the bench.
So, is Bong.
Well, that was an exciting half of football, wasn't it?
1-1 Max Low equalises, COYR, let’s turn this round.
Derby keeper sent off at Sheff U.
Ben Brereton-Diaz gets a hat trick, we’ll done to him. Sheff U score injury time penalty against the Sheep.
This season is just getting better and better for Derby.
1-1, two games unbeaten. Positives at least.

Really - a draw at home against a poor team - doesn’t strike me as positive
Saying that, shows character to come back after going behind
Let’s hope we can start putting a few results together
