Effectively it'll probably be Milner against Grealish, which on paper sounds like a no brained but in practice will probably be anything but.
It's a good thing for City. Our success against City has always been quick football with pressing and superior fitness. TAA is vital to that with his passing range and quick releases down the side to Salah as well as his spreading of play to the other wing.
His positioning isn't awful at all. You cannot be in two places at once and he is asked to play high up the pitch. Our midfield are set up to cover the full backs which you'll see multiple times per game. Will be interesting to see how an aging Milner will cope with the pace of Sterling(if selected) but perhaps we will see Gomez start to combat that.

It’s a good thing for City. His attacking pros far outweigh his defensive cons. City will create chances whether he plays or not, but Liverpool will miss his creativity big time. Not to say they can’t create without him but he is still ridiculously good going forward.
It's very much a good thing for City. The basics of it is he is a key component to the attacking play and it's a big loss because his creativity from wide areas isn't matched by anybody else who could play there. He isn't as defensively poor as everybody thinks he is, he's not perfect there but that side of his game has improved.
Positionally, I'd expect Milner/Gomez (assuming one of those players there) to be much more sticking to position but it's the loss going forward that has the bigger impact really.
Salah will miss Trent so a good thing for City.
Milner even at 36 is rarely beaten in a one on one situation. Body position is perfect and in any 50/50 or 40/60 has mastered taking the man and ball.
Of course it's good for City, Trent is one of the best right backs in world football.
However, Milner has played well there his last two appearances including a MOTM award.
Got draw written all over it imo. City to bore everyone to death again.
Milner v Zaha was excellent.
Trust him to perform and do the basics well.
Let's put it this way...
If he was fit and a Man City player then he'd be the first name on your team sheet.

Yeah well it's alphabetical isn't it.
i really hope city play sterling. hell, let him have the full 90 minutes.
i don't think he copes very well playing for city at anfield. obviously the crowd aren't going to go easy on him, and he lets it get to him.
the only good game i can remember him having against us at anfield was last season when there wasn't any supporters in the ground.

I mean in the one before that Liverpool had to double up on him on the right with Gomez…
But yes he generally doesn’t play well there, or anywhere at the moment unless it’s in an England shirt
On current form Sterling shouldnt be starting although he has actually terrorised gomez in the last few occasions he has come up against him. Maybe Pep will have that in mind.
Grealish will start because he does the one thing Pep likes which is hug the touch line and maintain his position.
Hard to tell what team Pep will start with but it state of liverpools mid (injuries) and the return of our pressing game gives me hope.
Their front 3 is in good nick but we are just a much better defensive outfit now.

TAA? No, he’s at the perfect club for him. Walker suits us better.

Exactly that. For you, I wouldn’t change him for anyone.
