Yeah, things have changed. Think I saw they can make 105 million loss over the next year and be inside FFP, so with everything else they can theoretically spend close to 160 million in the first year without failing FFP and that is only due to the rolling FFP from COVID. They will then have issues spending that much the following season so likely to have to spread it out more.
Either way, they're in a far healthier position than under Ashley but it'll likely be 100 million or so max without player sales.
------------------------------------------------------
They also are at a greater disadvantage base by comparison to ours & even Man City at the time of takeover.
We had a top 6 minimum squad (a top 4 spine) & started in the CL. City the previous year had invested to a point where they were a top half team easy. Newcastle have one player you'd argue would match their ambitions & that literally it. It's gunna take a bit of time for them.
They will just sponsor themselves

That’s complete nonsense.
First, while the perception still exists of Spurs as a historical Jewish club, it no longer holds true in terms of number of Jewish fans. Also it’s very much a perception that exists in England alone, when it comes to perceptions abroad no one really knows about it.
Also while there are high levels of anti-semitism in the Middle East because of the situation with Israel and Palestine it’s no way near as polarising or hot button an issue in Saudi or the UAE as the media would have people believe.
In fact it’s the UAE and Saudi who have been leading the campaign in the Middle East and the wider Muslim for normalisation of relations with Israel, the UAE states publicly while the Saudis more in the background, and without commenting on the rights and wrongs of that and what it would mean for the Palestinian liberation struggle, the fact is that these two countries very much want the Muslim world to now recognise Israel.
So whatever else I doubt very much that Spurs historical Jewish links would have any factor in a Middle Eastern take over of the club. Spurs issue is that we’ve pretty much priced ourselves out of any takeover and that when you look at London Arsenal are the far more attractive option. They have a bigger brand recognition abroad, more recent success, and would probably cost less to buy out. There are rumours that Qatar want to invest in a PL club too with Arsenal on top of their list.
Went on the Newcastle 606 expecting to see loads of upbeat comments from fans, and there is nothing !!!

Newcastles biggest problem has always been convincing players to come that far north. Souness said that was the biggest issue he had when manager there. I appreciate it will be a whole lot easier if they are offering guys 300k a week but I still think that will play a part.

Definitely - it’s even a problem Liverpool have had in the PL era particularly with South American players. But again for me it’s less about what the players want and more about their agents. It may take a while but Newcastle will eventually be able to attract the best players in the world irrespective of the location.

Be interesting to see what calibre of player they will be able to attract straight away although I think it will take a few years for them to really start to go up a few levels
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Chelsea won the league in their second year under Abromovic and City qualified for the CL three years after their takeover.
Now admittedly Newcastle are starting from a much weaker position but with the wealth they have behind them now I don’t think it will take them more than two to three years max to qualify for CL - maybe even less than that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
FFP was not in place when Roman arrived.
It was only just kicking in as City started to grow
The way City circumvented was by securing world record breaking sponsorship when they were, in reality, barely a top 4 club.
This pumped their finances allowing them to spend but there was a season when their entire revenue was exceeded by their wages, posting circa £200m losses, and that will not be allowed by FFP now.

Time will tell I suppose. You are probably right. I think everton is a better example of trying to break in nowadays. They have spent a power in the last few years and not really made much progress. We will see how it goes I personally just dont think its as sure a thing as it was back when chelsea and city struck the lottery.

Isn’t FFP ending in January anyway with UEFA introducing a new model with some sort of wealth tax which is meant to favour the oil rich super clubs.
Expect Kane will be sulking over a move to Newcastle in January 👍

They will splash the cash in January, I would be worried for Pool, a lot of their players are around 30 and only have 1 big contract left, so would jump at the wages that will be on offer.

Definitely - it’s even a problem Liverpool have had in the PL era particularly with South American players. But again for me it’s less about what the players want and more about their agents. It may take a while but Newcastle will eventually be able to attract the best players in the world irrespective of the location.

Time will tell I suppose. You are probably right. I think everton is a better example of trying to break in nowadays. They have spent a power in the last few years and not really made much progress. We will see how it goes I personally just dont think its as sure a thing as it was back when chelsea and city struck the lottery.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Isn’t FFP ending in January anyway with UEFA introducing a new model with some sort of wealth tax which is meant to favour the oil rich super clubs.

Expect Kane will be sulking over a move to Newcastle in January 👍

Well it's not. What do you think has stopped City spending 250 million a season for the last 3 years?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Honestly, the amount of money in football anyway I couldn’t care less if they went and spent a billion. It’s pointless.

They will splash the cash in January, I would be worried for Pool, a lot of their players are around 30 and only have 1 big contract left, so would jump at the wages that will be on offer.

If it means the standard of football in the Prem rises, then I'm all for it!
Just watched the Belgium v France game.....Terrific football as one would like to see every day.
And some ex-tottenham players, and one current player.
