I can see them raiding Pool, a lot of their players are around 30 and have only 1 last mega contract in them, so would jump at the chance of the wages on offer.
Salah for example, he has just 18 months left on his Klanfield contract, approaching 30 and Pool will not be able to match the wages Newcastle will throw at him. You can bet his agent has already been approached.
The same applies to Mane and others, Pool`s owners are businessmen, and could see it as the right time to sell.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Why do you think players who are around 30 and would, at this moment, walk into many top teams in the world (earning that last mega contract you mention), go to Newcastle who are not even in the CL, and realistically probably won’t qualify for the CL until the season after next (at the very earliest)?
It took City 3 years to qualify (and of course they only then actually played in the CL the season after that).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Most players will move anywhere if you pay them enough, and most players are for sale if you pay enough for them
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Name examples of where this has actually happened
----------------------------------------------------------------------
China
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which top players moved to China?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oscar
Fair
Witsel
Average
Carrasco
Who
Teixeira
Who
Tevez
Old and chasing one last big pay day
Pato
Sheit player, this isnt FM
Hulk
Average
Martinez
Who
Pelle
Who
Paulinho
Who
----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The point being they were all capable of playing at a higher level but took the money instead. Some players will put money first.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well Robinho is the obvious example.
Didn't Anzi put together quite a decent side too before it all went south, not top top players, but certainly above that level.
I do agree though, most players won't just move anywhere, especially in their prime. But that's not to say Newcastle can't attract some above decent players.
Ok I'll ask the big question, Amanda Staveley.......fella?
Newcastle is a grim old place and I can’t see the likes of Neymar or Mbappe going there anytime soon but they do have a rabid and big fan base who will be selling out a 52000 seater stadium every other week so I can see them getting the best English talent once they start to compete and possibly the best young South Americans if some sort of deal can be set up.

If newcastle dont buy anybody what is the motivation for the current squad (the likes of Joelinton etc) to get them out of the mire this season even if you could polish trurds. Dont think many of the current lot are in Salmans plans for the project when it starts in ernest next season.

I'd argue that all the decent players that have joined PSG have gone for money too. I know they are in the CL, but what a crap league.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Paris is a superb city to live in though and the kind of glamorous place that attracts all sorts of footballers (and their wives)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not saying it isn't and different players will have different motivations. Which is why Newcastle will tempt some decent players and likely some good ones looking for a far juicy last big contract.

If they get a quality coach in, spend 300 mill, they could certainly match us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They won't be able to spend £300m
I reckon the prem will strengthen the FFP rules, I can see the majority of the prem being all for it, we can't have a new team rocking the boat.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They could spend 300 mill this summer easily I think. Huge fan base and good ticket sales. Make sense to spend big, spread it over 3-5 yrs of the contract THEN announce huge new sponsorship deals.
That snowballs interest and revenue itself and allows bigger sponsorships. 300 mill is nothing in that set up even with FFP I think
Isn’t really the biggest ban for ffp banning from European competition.
They’re probably 2 years away from that so May as well go nuts spending wise until they’re in Europe
Reckon they will be hard pushed to convince any players of any current repute to sign. No guarantee of CL football, or even a top half finish this season. If they appointed Conte, then maybe he would give them the pull, but right now all they can offer is money, which isn't in short supply at other clubs that can also guarantee CL football.
Lewandowski and Kane FFS. Not a chance. More chance of them signing me than getting Lewandowski.
I think right now they would be better served by looking at players like Ismaila Sarr or Jeremy Doku (off the top of my head), who are young, progressive signings who will give them a base for them to build on with some bigger names.
