Can’t see Raphinha starting, and expect him to be on the bench just in case.
We will be three at the back as Southampton play 4-4-2 and this is when Struijk is most important in the defence and also least effective in the holding role. Hence being most worried about Phillips.

One of my favorite teams from last season, couldn’t hold a lead, played lots of nice football with no end product. KP is the key. If he plays, it’s 3 points. If not, I would be happy with a point. It’s scary how much we depend on him. I think Rodrigo will score, but will it be enough?

What makes you think Southampton will change from 4-4-2?
Could be a big moment for Gelhardt finally in this match.
Should be close as their absentees are equalled by ours so expecting a tough match. Would take an ugly 1 nil obviously but important to get something at least.

Stoopo,
Bielsa has always set us up to react to the oppositions formation. We have done every game he has managed so far.
If the opposition play 2 up front we have 3 cbs on the pitch. The reason being that we play a man to man marking system with a one man deficit. So our furthest forward player (Rodrigo today) will have 2 men to mark. And that allows us to have a cb in a free role without a specific man to cover.
That’s why we will always play one more cb than they have centre forwards.
The opposition formation is the only thing that matters when considering how we will set up.
That team is the product of aortas love in with u23 signings and scarce first team offerings. Smh. Southampton 3 points looks likely today.
