United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, City, Spurs, Everton, Villa are all undusputedly bigger clubs than Newcastle. I think Leeds and West Ham could certainly lay claim to be too. So the narrative that this takeover will take them back to where they deserve to be is nonsense, unless the new owners are only planning on taking them to midtable finishes every year.

Do people really believe they are going to be successful?
The landscape has changed so much since City won the lottery. Back then there was only Chelsea domestically who could compete financially, and probably Real Madrid across Europe.
But there has been such an influx of money into the game, and there are clubs like PSG now as well - wealth is just so much more spread around that it’s not only one or two clubs who can compete for the top players.
And then you have the “Newcastle” factor. I mean, if Mbappe wanted to play in England, where is he likely to go - London, the north west or the north east? I’m not saying the north east is bad - I have family there - but it’s always had a problem attracting players. I don’t necessarily see unlimited funds changing that too much.
I think they'll be successful. The financial advantages they have are so huge that it will come good sooner or later. They'll manage to push sponsorship deals at inflated values and can claim they are valued based on future earnings, using the growth of City, Chelsea and PSG to support these claims. Sadly, it's inevitable that they will at least be challenging most years at the very least and I'll be amazed if they don't win several league titles.
Would be lovely if they get relegated this season thou
Also thought Sky's decision to wheel out Ginola, describe him as a Newcastle legend, and deliberately ask him loaded question after loaded question, to ensure he only talked about Newcastle was despicable.
Anyone who knows anything about Ginola, knows he has an affection for Spurs as he ALSO played for them.
And can someone tell me why Sky are going down the Newcastle are suddenly a top team and a force in the PL route, when they still have exactly the same team as they had two weeks ago ?
The hype today was, frankly sickening, but totally expected.

What’s to stop them building a training ground in London and then just travelling up for home games. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if Haaland and Mbappe said that’s the only thing stopping them

Sky have this odd belief that people in Newcastle and Liverpool live and breathe their clubs more than the rest of us do.
The atmosphere at the new WHL on season opening day for crisis club Spurs against City was much better than todays offering at Newcastle but they weren't going to let anything detract from their Geordie love in.
So glad we won, its probably wishful thinking but I'd be very pleased if they went down.
Short memories. When Sky covered our first home match against Palace they did similar. It was Newcastle's day today. Good for them.
Why does Sky have to spin this
—
It’s what they do. Massively overhype and inflate the PL in every way they can, so that you buy a subscription/keep you subscription. It’s just another way of advertising, they are very good at it, and many can’t see it or don’t want to.
Sky want to retain subscribers and gain new ones, hence why they pander to the best supported clubs at all times. They employ people to cater for the needs of fans of these clubs, that way they keep subscribing. It is all about money and maximizing revenue, like any other business. Hell, a Sky pundit and Liverpool legend was caught on camera spitting into the face of a child and still kept his job, when other presenters affiliated to less well known and profitable organisations have been sacked for way less. Sky`s double standards is clear as day.
What you really mean is that the coverage didn't fit your narrative, and why should it? They are are business just like Spurs.
Say what you want about sky as a business, but this constant moaning from Spurs fans about media coverage is tedious. Why do you even care? Spurs should be doing more to change that coverage themselves, and tbf today was a decent step towards that - why not just be happy with that instead of going into the "everything is against us" narrative so often?

I don’t care about the narrative with regards to Spurs, we’re not a very good side and I have accepted that.
What I don’t like is the forced narrative that Newcastle is some massive club that will reestablish their rightful place at the top - they haven’t won a major trophy since 1955.
Does anyone truly care? If I'm tuning in to watch a game, I'll watch the game. Couldn't really care less about the love in for the opposition, I just sort of expect it.
I'd be (mildly) annoyed if after a win the interview with Spurs players focused solely on Newcastles' takeover, but pre match, what else were you exoecting?

Christ how difficult is this to grasp, I don’t care about the amount of coverage this is getting, it’s the bolloox made up narrative I dislike.
If they just said Newcastle have won the lottery and will be buying trophies with money the club never earned like City and Chelsea before them, then you wouldn’t here a peep from me - however there is an aversion to telling the truth

I somewhat agree with this, if anything the atmosphere helped us today as Newcastle couldn’t play anything but gung ho, up and at them football and left huge gaps. Their players were blowing out their Maf 10 minutes in to the game.
We controlled the ball well, but we’re unlikely to find many defences as obliging as Newcastle’s today
I’m not prepared to suspend belief and start believing that Newcastle are a historically big club

Well, they are. Was a time when they were the club of the North if you wanna go WAY back.
There's actually a direct link to Newcastle helping form the identity Nicholson gave Spurs today, his mentor (Peter McWilliam) is Newcastle's first legendary player
