I would say it would be more anticompetitive for the league to allow them to pump in billions through sponsorship deals not at fair value. City winning the league nearly every year isn't great for competition at the minute, for example.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s more competitive now then when united were are at their peak, only Arsenal had a chance until Chelsea came along, it’s a bit disingenuous to bring up competition as the premiere league by its very nature killed off so much competition when it was created.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think you're going well over the top with this. Didn't you predict Newcastle would win the league within five years?
They really won't.
Haven't we had about 5 different league winners in 8 years?
Pep is the difference at City, they were no great shakes before that really, obviously a good side though.

The exact same could be said about Liverpool and Klopp.
The more monies teams are going to attract better managers. If I was Newcastle I would already have Conte lined up and looking to spend £300m next summer - that would instantly take Newcastle to top half of the Prem and I predict within 2 seasons with £200m spent each summer, from there competing for CL. 2 more seasons and money and they will at the least be competing for the title.

Owners of many clubs in thehistory of British history have been involved in this, sports direct was one such deal and no one batted an eyelid.
Owners make money out of clubs and take money out of the game, spurs for example have a complicated deal with Levi that he does very nicely out of.
If you are going to look at sponsorship look at owner practises as well, then wages and agent fees.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can you expand on the complicated deal between Spurs and Levy? Last I looked he was being paid around £6m a year as a wage. How is that complicated?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Surprise surprise he cannot expand on his statement. and that's because it isnt complicated and he's trying to imply shady financial practices happen across the board...when its only City who have been taken to court and are under an FA investigation.

What will not work in NUFCs favour is that they will be watched like a hawk. Not only because of the moral issues of a Saudi take over but because everyone is now sitting here waiting for them to try and pump in hundreds of millions in contravention of FFP and announce market beating sponsorship deal.
Personally I am all for competition. It makes the PL more exciting but when it come through artificial growth it is anti-competitive. It distorts the market and widens the gap between the top and the bottom.
As for Ashely, I doubt very much Sports Direct was a market beating sponsorship deal with the club, the opposite is more likely to be true.
Spurs started pumping millions into the team in a short time when they had 2 points from 8 games... Now, the genie is out it's hard to control

Well what you're saying is basically they will just buy the worlds best players and win the league and do so in not a lot of time at all.
They won't, because there is a finite amount of the worlds best players and not many of those are going to Newcastle. You think they are going to sign Salah, Mbappe, Haaland and De Bruyne or something? Lol.
Ditto managers, you think Klopp or Pep are going to Newcastle? I don't.
They'll get better, but to suggest they are just going to hoover up trophies, as you seem to be, seems naïve and poorly thought out.

It’s to do with the acquisition of land after the stadium was built and the property’s about to be built on it and the companies he’s got money invested in that will be building them.
He owns the businesses that run all the catering and hospitality at spurs doesn’t he?
If I’m wrong I apologies but that’s what I was told.
It’s not an attack as that would be hypocritical, all clubs and owners bar non have ways and means to get what they want and what benefits themselves at the expense of others.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A company called Levy Restaurants has a catering deal in the new stadium but it has nothing to do with Daniel Levy.
As for the development land, that is controlled by a subsidiary of TH Ltd known as Tottenham Hotspur Property Company Limited and all of this is owned by ENIC which itself if about 30% Levy Family 70% Joe Lewis' Tavistock Group.
Levy is Chairman of THFC and takes a wage from that but is also part owner.

Of course it’s better, your previous response was 3 letters long and didn’t explain your view point at all. I will stop calling you knobbing, but please refrain from being one.
I respectfully disagree, I think if Newcastle could spend a billion on players over a 5 year period then they would win the league with a manager like Conte. At first they couldn’t attract the likes of Haaland, De Bruyne Mbappe, etc and would have instead set there sights lower - Richarlison, Ndidi, Jimenez that sort of level and then just keep adding better and better players.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s to do with the acquisition of land after the stadium was built and the property’s about to be built on it and the companies he’s got money invested in that will be building them.

Haven't we had about 5 different league winners in 8 years?
Pep is the difference at City, they were no great shakes before that really, obviously a good side though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The exact same could be said about Liverpool and Klopp.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A thought provoking response there knobbing
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well what you're saying is basically they will just buy the worlds best players and win the league and do so in not a lot of time at all.
Is that better or do you have another HILARIOUS quip about my user name?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course it’s better, your previous response was 3 letters long and didn’t explain your view point at all.
