The line up I'd go for v Liverpool is*:

DDG

AWB
Lindelof
Maguire (if fit)
Shaw

McT
Fred

Lingard
Bruno
Rashford

Cavani

We'll need 'legs' v Liverpool and I think the above is the closest we'll get to that with the squad we have and how it's set up at present.

*I do know there's no chance Ole will go for Cavani over Ronaldo but I do think Ronnie would be better as an impact sub that game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm with that but would go for Greenwood instead of Lingard

Ole will defo start with Cavani.

against Liverpool?

We can but hope, but seems very unlikely. I'm kinda gutted we wont see much of Cavani anymore... He's such a classy player and actually presses the opposition.

We will play very defensively at the weekend and look to counter which means there won't be a lot in it. We could still lose of course but I don't see us getting battered certainly. Ole knows a drubbing would be the last straw.

I think Cavani will leave in Jan. Possibly to Newcastle

It'd certainly be a ballsy decision to start Cavani ahead of Ronaldo. I think it'd be an indication of the last roll of the dice if he did though.

If he is playing Ronaldo v Liverpool you could say the good play would be to rest him tomorrow. Having said that I don't think Ronaldo is the main issue here. The main issue is, IMO, that we don't get the ball into the box often enough.

It'll be a tight match for sure. Well for most of it anyway. Think it's vital we get the first goal though in this one. I often think we're better chasing games recently but not against a team of their quality.

If we do score first though I think we'll win. I'll stick my neck out on that one!

Seeing as the biggest issue is in midfield the formation needs to address that. And bypass the midfield completely.

-------------DDG - Hendo-----------
-----------------Jones-----------------
Varane----Maguire-McT----Shaw--

Ronaldo--Cavani--Rashford - Greenwood

The obvious weakness is the inclusion of three hilarious English defenders but we are united and we overcome. Yes I am bored at work.

That's your defensive mentality kicking in, there's no back 5 with these tactics. McT can slot back when required. Sancho and rash will primarily operate in 2/3s of the pitch, not byline to byline.

No idea how Utd will set up against us really. Can't see Maguire getting fit enough in the space of a week either going by his last performance. Feel Ole chucked him under the bus a bit with that.

You may not agree with me but I'd be a little concerned if the LFC squad (not that I think they will) believe Sunday is going to be as easy for you as some of my LFC-supporting friends do.

Even when United were much better than Liverpool there was always an apprehension about going to Anfield.

We're always rammal at your place as a rule and Utd tend to up their game a bit so yeah completely agree.

Saying that though, looking at your press and counter press vs Leicester, we should be beating you.

posted on 19/10/21

Liverpool should be beating us, they're a better team managed by a better manager. They're also in very good form and Salah is fantastic at the moment. But this is exactly the sort of game we seem to get a result so I wouldn't put it past us although I still think Liverpool are favourites.

The fact we are discussing what lineup and system we need to play 3 years into Ole's time at the clubs shows you how little we've progressed and we all know there's no chance we will go for it and try to play entertaining football even though we're at home. So you'd have to ask yourself why the hell is he still in charge?

Everything does point to a Liverpool victory I agree. I just wouldn't actually put it past us pulling something out of the bag either. Which is frustrating when you think about it.

I don't think the press will be as much of an issue on Sunday though. I expect us to sit deep and try and hit on the counter. With that in mind it could be a pretty dull game as perhaps Klopp will be more cautious than usual too and bank (if that's the right word) on one of his in-form forwards doing something to win the game.

By 3 h the goals or more. We really do look like we are tactically all over the place at the moment.

I really wish the journalists who ask him questions at he pre match pressers would stray from the easy question path and ask him why the coaching looks non existent on match days. He needs to have more pressure dumped on him.

People are going a little overboard on Liverpool I feel. They’ve been better than us but they’ve hardly been amazing this season either.

posted on 19/10/21

Isn’t it more that many felt they had overdone it and lost it last season. Now with less injuries they seem to be getting back to a better level of performance. With how we’re currently performing it isn’t the ideal time to be playing them is it?

Then they get banned from Old Trafford and lose their job covering United, I guess. That's why he only gets dollies to field

Hmmm, longest unbeaten run in all four division, scoring for fun, set a new away goal record, top of our CL group, through in the cup. We're doing alright.
