Complacent in summer transfer window?

Not sure we had much cash to splash around but, as it was, we took a squad that had cantered the league and added to it.

I'm sure it's been said by members of the Rangers board that they have backed Gerrard as much as they can without bringing in some revenue. Rangers will spend in January but I think Gerrard will have to sanction the sale of at least one of Rangers top assets either Kent, Morelos , taviener or Patterson. They will have to follow the Celtic model at some point. Spending with no income is just unsustainable.

I actually expected a sale in the summer, and wanted Morelos gone. I fully realise that we are a selling club, and need to buy cheap and sell a couple on each season - as pointed out by others on here, and made clear by Dave King, and our M.D. However since it didn't happen in the summer maybe that was the reason for our modest acquisitions. Nevertheless, winning one league trophy does not mean we should be content to stand still.

Lundstram and Wright look like good additions.

Neither Sakala or Juninho have been given a proper chance really - saw it took Lundstram time to get up to speed.

Considering the money spent, and lack of sales don’t think there’s anyway you can say we were complacent, if there was money to be spent - but when you look at Celtic’s big money signings over last few years clear that doesn’t guarantee success.

surely we're not a selling club until we actually start selling?

Exactly Samus.....Morelos and Kamara the obvious ones to go considering their cost (£1m and £50k) and expected sell-on fees....arguably £10m+?

Not really sure it was complacency. I think we overspent last season and this season was more on of consolidation.

Failing to qualify for the CL killed any chance of spending on a Veerman type.

In terms of form this season I think we are beginning to settle down.

Kent has been a huge miss. He’s either been absent or carrying that hammy injury - not even close to being the same player as last season. He is our biggest single difference maker in the team so to have had him half fit or missing altogether this season and still be top of the league is decent in my book.

Morelos needs to spark to life - fairly confident he will.

Lundstram has settled down and he has certainly brought something to the team in recent weeks.

I would rather still have Itten than have Sakala tbh. To say Sakala is rough around the edges is an understatement 😩

Wright and Simpson aren’t good enough. Wright has his moments but nowhere near enough of them to be a regular for Rangers. With Jack coming back I am struggling to see when bacuna gets a start.

We still have a strong squad that can win this league. It will be close this season though. I expect Celtic to bring in 2-3 players in Jan and don’t expect much from us.

Sakala is rougher than me on a Sunday.
Electric pace though. One of those players who will probably look better against a good European side rather than an spfl side.
Raw as ever though.

nonsense, it was a nice attempt at a dropkick from Pogba

Lundstram has been decent and schite, I think he’s best used in Davis’ position but on a free won’t complain as I think he’s getting better.

Sakala is schite. Pace aside I see no other attributes but we have no money so we have to take these gambles much like Simpson. Though we need to decide quickly and move them on when it’s clear they’ve no chance before their reputations are muck and we can’t shift them.

A big sale would have been made if there had been an acceptable offer. There wasn’t.

Morelos would be first to get sold if it was me but I think Aribo is more likely. As long as we get enough money from that invested in the team to replace Goldson I’ll be happy. I think Bacuna could be a player if he got a run.

In the summer, the club obviously targeted keeping last season's squad together and bringing players in to give us strength in depth.

I think the only player signed with a view to strengthening the first team was Lundstram...and although the big man is a decent player, for me, having him and Davis in the same team is like having two of the same kind of player in the engine room, and it just doesn't work

The only surprises for me were one, letting Itten go out on loan, still don't understand why we did that

Secondly....why does Defoe have a player contract?

Other than that, I thought our business in the summer was good....the summer transfers aren't the issue...the issue is the players from last season not playing to anything like last year's standards

You’d have to be honest and say Celtic would hardly have been setting alarm bells off at Rangers over the summer. I can see why they thought spending big wasn’t necessary. It still might prove unnecessary.

Time, like Lee Wallace, will tell.

If Goldson goes we'll lose the league.

I agree that Aribo is most likely to go. He's been excellent despite us being pash.
