The big difference between those defeats and this one is that they were bad days at the office and the manager managed to improve on it. Sometimes thrashings happen - like the 6-1 against City where we weren’t even that bad, it’s just that City we’re excellent that day.

The Liverpool game this weekend was predictable in his bad it was as a score like that had been coming for a few weeks and Ole was culpable in it by picking the side he did with the tactics he did.

Hence why this defeat is so much worse than most of those other examples and should lose the manager his job as he’s gone past the point of no return.

I like Rosso’s optimism!?

I can totally believe that the club want to continue some kind of United dna (after the mess of LVG and Jose) with any next manager which would probably rule Conte out. The more I think about it the more I feel the club want a better fit (whoever that is) and that it’s more likely we get an interim manager who has no chance of getting the job until the summer. The club have shown with the previous 3 sackings that they don’t make decisive decisions so I can see them waiting to see how the next 3 games before making a call.

I’m not qualified to comment on United performances or the club’s situation nowadays, but funnily enough I checked the PL table yesterday and found that United and my adopted club in Portugal (Portimonense) are:

- Same league position
- Level on points, with
- Same number of wins, draws and losses

The only discernible high level statistical difference is that after the weekend, Portimonense have a one goal advantage over United in GD.

So it would appear that I’ve traded up, if only infinitesimally
