One thing I'd ask fans to keep in mind is our expectations before the season began. We are in the early stages of a rebuild, and no one could realistically say before we kicked a ball that they expected us to finish above City, Chelsea, Liverpool or Man Utd. So when that doesn't look like happening, it's not a reason to start getting angry about it!
The league is awash with teams at the top of their game at the moment, with top managers. This season was never going to be the one where we break back in.
Have to feel for Romero. Voted best defender in Italy last season and he got misold the dream by Paratici.
I do wonder had we not hired Paratici, would we have brought Edourd or Olise. From what little I have seen of Olise he is a much better prospect than Gil who is older, cost more and lightweight.
It has always been rumoured we were keeping tabs on Edourd and at less than £19m Levy should have been all over him.

Top 6 is what most people would have taken beginning of the season. We are 6th butnits not good enough. Yes it'd early to praise Nuno but by the same yardstick its early to criticise. For me 13 games in and we shall see where we are. Either competition for 4th to 6th Spot or hopelessly struggling.

We play tomorrow.
And you keep talking about us refreshing the squad in January but historically when has this ever happened? Levy is the first to day there is no value in the Jan window. Typically we buy one or no players in Jan, and I suspect this window will be the same.
As for Nuno, personally I don’t think he’s good enough for the job long term and I think that will be borne out by results, performances and matchplay stats more and more over the coming months as it is starting to already. He’s a dreary, pragmatic manager who doesn’t appear to know how to set us up in terms of attack or possession, hence the toothless displays we keep seeing. Losing his first four London derby’s conceding 10 and scoring 1? The bloke is having a mare and that’s nothing to do with pre conceived ideas influenced by the media, that is the facts as we are witnessing them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Your view might be right but he at least did the double over Arsenal with a worse team than ours (on paper) and he manager to outplay us a few times...so what's changed. Him or the squad?

When you at the table right now, 4th spot is there for the taking. Utd should be favourites given they have Ronaldo but look at the state of them.
I think Leicester and West Ham will fight it out, maybe even Arsenal who seem to be getting their act together.
If we are still around the 6th position come January and Levy gets two more players in midfield and attack we will have a shout. Even if they are loans but he has to stregthen the caaaaant.

Our January transfer woes are down to Hitchen. Paratici will prove this point. Hitchen never knew how to use the loan system nor did he have global contacts. I'll be either wrong or right by Feb 1.

Gil is a two year project. He is not Prem ready. Another typical light weight Spurs players. It does my head when are players and easily pushed off the ball. It happened to Gil twice on Sunday in less than 15 mins.

We ground out 3 early wins before the season got going, they are propping us up in 6th place but that is fizzling out as we slip down the league. Have you actually watched us? We are crap. Opening day vs City was the only decent performance. Four London derbies lost on the bounce, scored 1 conceded 10. Terrible style of play with no width, no creative attacking patterns, incapable of defending a set piece. The Palace and Arsenal games in particular were a disgrace.
18th - goals
20th - shots
20th - chances from open play
20th - big chances
20th - shot creating actions
20th - distance covered
19th - progressive carries
20th - successful pressure%
19th - shots allowed
These stats do no lie. This team is static, they hardly move. How the fack you can say Nuno is above criticism is beyond me, he’s the manager and he gets paid to be accountable for the results and performances of the team and so far it’s not been good enough.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Didn't say he's beyond criticism, in fact if you read between the lines I'm saying Nuno isn't sticking to his convictions. I believe he always wanted to play 3 at the back. This brought him success with wolves but because of pressure and afraid to be perceived as defensive he has tried to play a system he has never used successfully in the prem. That's daft and weak by him.

Disagree with the OP. First game we swarmed all over city and fought hard. Since then Nuno's negative and dull tactics have been drilled into them and they are playing as he wants.
If a Potter came in now I've no doubt he would reinvigorate the club and the players would love playing positive football for the first time in over two years.
Quite simply since the CL final we've had a burnt out Poch and two negative duds in charge. I'm sure the players are as disillusioned as we are playing this way.

For me, Gil looks like a shocking buy. Not only does he not seem any better than a standard youth player we could have played, but he was actually very expensive. Depending on the value of Lamela, gil was at least £35m???

Yup. January is so key. So I won't accept all the Hitcheb and Levy talk that it's difficult to sign players. Pure BS. What they are really saying it's difficult to sign players you can flip for more money. These are two different things. Quality is always available just not profitable which is what they only care about.

Potter wouldn't do anything with this squad. They wouldn't respect Potter either. Brighton players respect Potter, they don't know better. If Potyer stayed there 4 years with the same players watch him and them become stale also.

Levy is gonna ask Ryan Nelson and Louis Saha to come out of retirement 😂
It’s pretty obvious from statements made by players and coaches that they do pay attention to what’s being said in the media and Twitter and Instagram in particular. The recent interview given by Steve Bruce and the mental health issues he suffered becuase of what was said about him on SM tells you everything. Even Ronaldo issues a statement yesterday (or in recent days at least) saying he’s won everything in the game and what’s being said about him on SM has no effect on him, which basically means it clearly is bothering him.

I have bob hope mate. Levy knows we having Sarr arriving next season so a back up striker is the least we can ask for. But what we want and what we get are two different stories.

One thing I'd ask fans to keep in mind is our expectations before the season began. We are in the early stages of a rebuild, and no one could realistically say before we kicked a ball that they expected us to finish above City, Chelsea, Liverpool or Man Utd. So when that doesn't look like happening, it's not a reason to start getting angry about it!
The league is awash with teams at the top of their game at the moment, with top managers. This season was never going to be the one where we break back in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Top 6 is what most people would have taken beginning of the season. We are 6th butnits not good enough. Yes it'd early to praise Nuno but by the same yardstick its early to criticise. For me 13 games in and we shall see where we are. Either competition for 4th to 6th Spot or hopelessly struggling.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When you at the table right now, 4th spot is there for the taking.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Our January transfer woes are down to Hitchen. Paratici will prove this point. Hitchen never knew how to use the loan system nor did he have global contacts. I'll be either wrong or right by Feb 1.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Olise looks a talent, so does Gil. We need a goal scoring right wing. At the least a Bale loan would have suited us this season. We have lost so many goals..no Bale, No Vinicius..and basically no Kane.
Nuno has his work cut out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Gil is a two year project.

I wouldn't say he was a total dud. He shows heart and has some ability but when I look at Olise I just feel Paratici's clear lack of knowledge of the british game and players costs us to miss out on some bargins.

Yup. January is so key. So I won't accept all the Hitcheb and Levy talk that it's difficult to sign players. Pure BS. What they are really saying it's difficult to sign players you can flip for more money. These are two different things. Quality is always available just not profitable which is what they only care about.

This coincided with the return of Kane...arguably the biggest virus in the squad for Nuno at the beginning of the season.

Imagine if we improved by say 5% or 10%. When you look at those stats it feels as if we should bottom of the table. How are we 6th? Yes it may well be a false position but imagine if we were to improve, where we could end up?

Potter wouldn't do anything with this squad. They wouldn't respect Potter either. Brighton players respect Potter, they don't know better. If Potyer stayed there 4 years with the same players watch him and them become stale also.
