A game against your fellow relegation strugglers is always going to be a key match. Rovers need to get something from it I feel to have a chance of avoiding the drop. Charlton will have more confidence now Atkins has gone plus their win against Sunderland. If either Bostock or Gardener are in the starting line up we will lose. But I'll wait for the actual team before predicting. Our past few away games have been dire. Best to hope for is a draw can't see us winning this but nowadays you can nevervtell
I will be bold and say 3-1 to the Rovers and then it will rain and the match will be abandoned! If I remember correctly, the game was in 2013, but I cannot remember if t was 3-1 or more when the game was stopped.
I'll go with Hiwula to get the first.
When I see the team I might change the score. I also hope Gardener or Bostock do not start, and hearing RW's presser both are doubtful, but Rowe may be back.
RW does not seem to have much faith in our home-grown talent. I thought Hasani showed potential until he was injured a couple of years ago.
…and Ravenhill, who PL clubs were interested in 12 months ago, allegedly, has never had a L1 start. McCann had to put Amos on as sub v Southend in his first L1 game in charge and he looked quite promising I thought, but after 2 years of languishing he seemed worse. No opportunities were given to him. Hasani and Greaves have done rather more to show they have something than a lot of the new recruits, but they never seem to get a second chance. The Academy seems to fail in its purpose and RW is just the same as his 2 predecessors, preferring his own recruits several of whom who are unbelievably poor. Surely they realise that it is a waste of money as well as failing the youngsters if they don’t do more to provide opportunities? I doubt whether the sort of hit and miss management of Academy graduates conforms with the business plan if there is one and if I had a promising footballing child DRFC do not have a record that would impress me.
It was 3-0 and then they got a goal and the crowd but the Charlton players put great pressure on the ref to abandon the game. I was there and even an extra point would have saved us from relegation that season. It is not a lucky ground for us.
Some people still seem to think Bostock is “class”, although how you can be in midfield and avoid tackling I did not know… well I do know really, he stays as far back as possible away from the opposition who can safely ignore him because they soon realise that he nearly always passes it sideways or backwards. When in less space he passes it backwards, like on Tuesday when he almost laid on a goal for Cambridge. If you had a whole team of Bostocks they would never get the ball or themselves out of their own half. Gardner has apologised and says he was not fit enough to play! So has he ever been fit enough to play?
2-1 to Rovers. Dodoo / Galbraith.
Of course, we did lose the relay, and so as Donaldo says, a point would have saved us. Pity they'd not use the rules they do in sports such as tennis where of a match is stopped because of weather, you start again where it was stopped!
I see super-star Bostock is starting - how long before Rowe replaces him?
Charlton 1-1 Rovers

I missed the deadline but is there anything left to say? . 3-0 down at the moment and dire. Please do the decent thing Richie.
Surely he can't survive now! Gary McSheffrey to take temporary charge?
Was going to put 3 nil defeat, said the other week we have been very lucky with wins at home, when you take a step back and look at it from another angle, the ref got a massive decision wrong in both our last 2 home victories.
Crewe probably can't wait to play against this defence, bar far the worst I've seen since we came back into the league.
Baldwin says we're not in a relegation battle, he's probably right, as we're in a relegation position but, we've definitely got no battle in this team.
Wellens must have believed that his recruitment would provide a competitive team and he maintained his faith with men whose potential he misjudged badly.
The club surely cannot put the future of DRFC in the hands such a manager.
Absolutely terrible – how come it could be with almost the same players who played well for some of the last two games, but today were slow in thinking and playing, had no noticeable skills and made many mistakes? I thought they played worse than in the debacle at Ipswich!
I gave up after 60 minutes and thought I would waste no more time watching them and go and do something useful and exciting – I emptied our dishwasher and hand washed the wine glasses used yesterday!
The rumours were Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had three games to show why he should not be fired, and today Man U won, albeit against a very poor Spurs (Nuno Espirito Santo is the manager here that should be worrying about his future).
Maybe RW will get two more games to show something, but I think even our Board must be nearly out of patience, as well they should be.
As Donaldo said, RW must have believed in those he recruited, and we all know injuries have been a problem, but even Galbraith and Dahlberg had poor games today. Jones back in goal on Tuesday, Donaldo? – joking, of course!
😎
Surely a defeat against Crewe should see him shown the door.
The fear I have, is the board won't sack RW because it makes them look like they were wrong appointing him, after their very long-winded way of recruiting a manager Then we just keep failing, like Chesterfield, Notts County, Southend to name a few thats gone from this league down into none league football. But it's OK, Baldwin said we're not in a relegation battle 😳
The extended highlights exhibit one team outclassing another. Rovers played like one operating at a level way below Charlton. We use words like “no idea”, “hopeless” and so forth when they may not be literally true, but yesterday they were entirely apposite. The player who probably rates himself as a class above his team mates, Bostock was notable for his errors, often so lazily incompetent as to be an asset to the opposition. All that he did was to seem to get in the way, or get out of the way, often to Charlton’s advantage. His body language suggests that he fails to recognise this.
The defence does not know where to position themselves, they either don’t challenge for the ball or just let it go by and they offer no protection to Dahlberg.
It is difficult to imagine that men who have played at a reasonable level previously - I assume - have been transformed into such a shambolic disarray by this manager and his backing team.
I may have said that a performance was embarrassing before, but I am now feeling genuinely that I do not want to be associated with them much longer if nothing is done to rid the club of Mr Wellens.
Incidentally this team do not seem to have the stomach to “battle”. Surrender is more their style.

If you are able to view the above link it's a long article but has an independent view of the game which reinforces our own views of the situation at the moment. I'm almost hoping we lose to Crewe so that the board really have no choice but to act.
Thanks Nookie; a good article from an independent blogger.
I too am getting to the stage when I feel someone needs to be punished. We have not had a word of comment from the Board and the Wellens loyalists are getting tiresome.
Thanks, Nookie; it was good to see someone neutral saying the thoughts most of us have. I also liked his comments about Train and Tube service as on my last time in England in 2016 on a family emergency I took a day trip from Doncaster to London to see my sister and was amazed at the choice of trains from Donny to Kings Cross - and that station was somewhat improved from my last visit there.
As far as the Rovers are concerned, I've tried to keep some positive thoughts, and hoped RW would get it right in the end. However Saturday's performance just about extinguished any positive thoughts.
I'll watch the Crewe game, but if they lose that, it will be difficult on a Saturday to get up to watch a 07:00 KO. Of course this Saturday the FA Cup in not on iFollow, and anyway is an even earlier KO. If they win the next two games I may watch the Papa John's game as it is lunchtime here, but if we lose at Scunny in the FA Cup, forget it.
If we win these three games, I'm sure RW will be given time with players supposed to back after that.
However, the board will probably give him time until he has all the "miracle players" back - Taylor, Okenabithie and John.
I suppose it is mostly their money.
