I wouldn’t blame him if this was just a tease, a final feck you to Levy for the mess in the summer. The thing is, if this doesn’t go through now, it’ll be one of the biggest PR disasters the club has ever seen. It’s like the ugly bloke trying one last crack at the stunner. It has to go right otherwise he’ll have a mutiny on his hands.

Blimey SSN saying /Talks between Tottenham and the Italian, who has been out of work since leaving Inter Milan in the summer, are already well advanced, with negotiations understood to be in their final stages.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Give it another hour and we'll have alienated him completely.

Levy would never go for Gatusso. He must know it would only end in Gatusso rage quitting and trying to beat him up.
Reports on twitter saying Conte has joined us.

Conte isn't a defensive manager. He's brilliant at setting up a miserly defence, but his sides score plenty of goals. Lots of direct one- and two-touch passing through the lines. They actually get forward relatively fast.
I think the likes of Ndombele and Romero would do very well in a Conte setup since they like that style

I hope this all comes to pass.
Conte is the sort of personality this bunch of timid weak footballers need. They all have qualities (ok, may be not Davies) but they rarely hit the heights and certainly not as a unit. This needs a strong passionate leader and we all could see Nuno was far from this. Conte might be some what crazy but he is full of passion and drive and is edgy. He will either inspire players or will expel them and to me this is exactly what we need.
Weirdly he shares many of the same characteristics as Jose but seems a far more acceptable appointment. Presumably because he doesnt quite have the same history of leaving a mess wherever he goes (although he did fall out with the hierarchy at Chelsea and Inter) and is younger/more modern.
If Sessgnon can get fit, he will benefit massively from Conte, the high LWB role will be very suited to him.

Also he’s just younger, hus success is more recent and I think he just reads the modern game a lot better than present day Jose.

It would suit Son down to the ground too. Kane would need to buck his ideas up and make some effort because Conte asks a lot of his target man.
I think the only iffy positions are the deep lying playmaker - I don't think Ndombele, Hojbjerg or Skipp are suited - and the wider centre halves. Tanganga might work but I think the other side would be lacking.
The more I think about it the more I see Ndombele or Lo Celso thriving in a setup like that. Their main skill is press-breaking, either with quick passes through the lines or by dribbling past the first tackle, which is key to creating space for counters.
Kane has the game to play the Lukaku role but he would need to actually make an effort

Jose and Conte comparisons are lazy
Lucas, Gil and Bergwin might find their opportunities pretty limited because I think a 352 or 3412 suits Spurs' players far better than a 343, and those three players don't really fit in central roles.
Lucas maybe I suppose in a front 2, but he's not a natural fit. The other two might find themselves converted to wing backs like Moses, Perisic and Young
