It sits a little uneasy with me that he can down tools and pick them up again so flippantly. I would have thought a player of his calibre and professionalism would have had a level of self-motivation to avoid a dip in form based on whoever manages.
Truly great players don't do this. I also think he has a major impact on the rest of the team. When your best player and leader by example drops his effort, the rest follow. I wouldn't be surprised if Kane is the catalyst for our entire run under Nuno.
That said, a good manager gets the best out of players and I've no doubt Conte will but I find it a little galling how a man of that talent turns it on and off whenever he feels like it.
This is exactly what Hojbjerg was alluding to in his interview. Fair play to him for calling players out for that because no matter who's in charge, you go out there and give it 100%.

But just how many times is he expected to get that motivation back.
I think the players were mentally exhausted when Poch's reign came to an end. They gave him absolutely everything and we came up a fraction short.
He's motivated to go again under Jose... that didn't work out... then suddenly he's playing under his old mate Ryan Mason... and then Nuno - after thinking he's off to win everything at City.

I totally get that and there's no doubt that the direction of travel of the club has taken its toll on him but once you realise the move isn't going to materialise, you maybe allow yourself a couple of weeks sulk time but then you dust yourself off and go again. Modric did it and showed a far greater level of professionalism than Kane in his final year.
You have to be careful dropping your effort. Dele did that and he couldn't find it again. If your form dips hugely, you could find yourself no longer in favour of the buying club. Based on this season's form, is it likely City will be back in for Kane? I wouldn't bet on it based on current form.
I understand he's human and I agree that we should never have dumped Poch when we did (he deserved a chance to turn things around after a difficult emotionally draining period after losing the CL final) but your leaders need to remain consistent otherwise they're just not good leaders.
You've got to feel for Nuno if Harry starts running properly again.

My biggest fear for Harry is he looks like he has downed tools. He is now 28. Last season he may have peaked and now could be on a downward tracjectory.
He is going to have to work really hard in training and games to get back to the standards of last season.
He hasn't been helped by the last two coaches or seasons but under Jose he had his most productive season ever.
He also has to improve his all round play. He has got the Dele's too in that he gives the ball away alot.
He needs to go back to basics. Lead the line and get into the box as much as possible and work hard.

Having it certainly helps with treatment.
Kane and several other English senior players (Winks, Dier and Dele) need to go and although he hasn't been too bad this season I want to see Hugo replaced as I associate him with failure as like Kane he rarely turns up in the really big club games.
Although I can understand being disappointed, and lacking motivation for not getting the big move he wanted, the simple fact is he facked himself over by signing a 6 year contract at the back end of 2018. Unless there was a clause to mitigate any risk and to protect him in the future - which there obviously wasn't - then he was always going to powerless if he tried to move any earlier beyond one year on his deal.
He and his agent didn't factor this in. He's only got himself to blame.
His attempt at engineering a move away in the Summer was pathetic too.
That interview he did with Neville (which Neville and Sky should have been vilified for) was clearly an attempt to attract suitors. It didn't work.
That being said, I know he may not have got the money he would have wanted, but Levy should have sold him in the Summer. Having someone as dejected as Kane in the dressing room can't be good for morale.
Now we have a top manager in charge i fully expect a turn in form.
Nuno was the sort of manager in charge that when Lloris says cmon lads lets fooking hammer them.
Nhno says Hammer, oh... Oh, hamma sandwich! ...
I dont think Kane downed tools but he will have been completely underwhelmed by the situation he was in. Denied a chance to go to City, fair enough he'd be disappointed, but then to be working under Nuno.
I can understand how and why his heart will not have been totally in it and when you see the way that Nuno had us playing Kane will have known that any success is a long way off if not impossible. SO i do not thinkit was a deliberate choice to play badly but he will have just had that sinking feeling which will have compounded the disappointment of not going to City.
With Conte our prospects are much better, not just because of his quality but the expectation that Conte will demand more investment. We are all optimistic about what this can achieve whereas we all realised quite early on that Nuno really wasnt going to get us anywhere fast. Kane will have had the same feelings and being on a training pitch every day with Nuno will have had an even clearer view of Nuno's ability.
Look at it this way, Kane had the chance to get with a serious fit bird. He tried to split with his girl friend but she made it really really tough for him. She then let herself go and pilled on the pounds and stopped shaving. Kane still has needs but can barely get it up anymore wondering what might have been. However she then gets hit by a bus and the best looking available girl has walked into Kane's life. Shwing!
Frankly, I think Kane gets too much of a free pass for the way he's behaved at the back end of last season and for how he's performed this season. People are always putting caveats or mitigating circumstances when they speak about him. It's a load of BS.
Fabregas did something similar and, as much as I loved him as a player, the way he behaved when he wanted to leave really faacked me off, so I couldn't wait for him to go in the end.

Kane's one of our own and if we match his ambition he will stay. He could see what all the fans were seeing that we are in decline and to arrest that decline we get Nuno in He has given a massive amount to the club and I just think he lost faith and when that happens its hard to maintain levels.

What?? Get rid of Kane? Now? Are you mad? That's never going to happen all the time Conte's with us. If we sell him now or in the summer I not only expect Conte to leave, I'd expect him to go on some murderous rampage like Michael Douglas in Falling Down. Getting Conte in shackles Kane to us for the foreseeable future as far as I'm concerned.
I don't agree that this is all down to Kane 'downing tools'. Yes he's clearly not as invested in the vision but by all accounts there was just no attacking plan under Nuno. If the chances and play was there then Kane would be scoring.
Conte commands respect and is a coach that matches Kane's ambition.
Kane's main issue is that he want to LEAVE Spurs, not because of Nuno or Jose or any manager. His issue is with the club/chairmen and i don't think getting another top manager in, is going to change him wanting to leave the club.

No it's not. He doesn't want to leave Spurs, he wants to win trophies, which is more likely elsewhere. If he could do it with us he'd prefer it. With Conte and investment, that prospect changes but it's a big leap of faith. Levy needs to invest like he never has before. If we do that and start picking up a trophy or two, he'll stay.

It's basically the same thing, he's not winning the big trophies at Spurs anyway, whether Conte is there or not. Do you think he'll wait for 2-3 years, hoping Spurs come good? i can't see you lot challenging for much before that.

Fabregas did something similar and, as much as I loved him as a player, the way he behaved when he wanted to leave really faacked me off, so I couldn't wait for him to go in the end.

Shwing!

I'm assuming everyone died on the bus based on her description. It's like ploughing into a brick wall.

Kane's one of our own and if we match his ambition he will stay. He could see what all the fans were seeing that we are in decline and to arrest that decline we get Nuno in He has given a massive amount to the club and I just think he lost faith and when that happens its hard to maintain levels.

I can and and I do.
You play for your club and your teammates with passion and prides, always.
If not, you can f*ck off.

I would if I was paying them 300 thousand pounds a week.

Kane and several other English senior players (Winks, Dier and Dele) need to go and although he hasn't been too bad this season I want to see Hugo replaced as I associate him with failure as like Kane he rarely turns up in the really big club games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He doesn't want to play for us and he has picked up a huge salary for downing tools this season.
Yes I'd love to replace him with somebody younger, up for it and less injury ravaged.

Exactly this. Son signed a deal in the same period. Son scored goals to get us to Cup finals, Son also lost in those finals.
Some fans will never want to blame Kane. Must be a psychological thing.

Kane has played in plenty of semis/finals with us and hasn't done enough.
A bit of self awareness wouldn't go amiss on his part.
