All of a sudden there are some old tweets coming back to haunt Vaughan too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah the one he said a few years ago after a terrorist attack about how Muslims like Moeen Ali should be personally educating other Muslims to not be terrorists
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can't really see the problem with that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I dunno I think it's a bit silly to suggest someone like Ali has a duty to educate others purely because they're the same race/religion. If a white guy committed a terrorist attack then I certainly wouldn't feel I had to go around educating other white guys not to be terrorists.

Moeen is a role model and maybe the gullible are more likely to listen to him rather than a teacher or parent.
I don't think he was being asked to go door-to-door spreading the anti-terrorist message.
Who cares? i don't. It always seems someone is a victim. Its always someone other than a white person. the white person is the RACIST..
Lets all submit now on the floor against racism.. how about wee submit against women abuse and child abuse that goes in some "cultures" in vast numbers

In the Yorkshire dressing room?
Of course racism is still acceptable, alive and well, personally I find it wholly unacceptable when clearly put out there with malice and wrongful intention.
But we continue to see the news, the media, soap operas, movies, political parties and all of the rest of the establishment placing people of various ethnicities in undeserved roles for tokenistic, virtual signalling, box ticking exercises, all to satisfy their thirst for diversity.
They can`t have it both ways and this should not be the case, so there is no wonder that some people are reluctant to support all these anti racism movements etc, when the aforementioned is being waved in their faces every day.
It smacks of bullying, never mind the racist aspect.

Ballance has also said that things were said in both directions between him and Rafiq, I will be surprised if we find out what was said to Ballance though, given he will not feel the need to divulge and the current narrative.
Ballance also said that this banter was exchanged back in his younger days, which implies it was a lot earlier than 2018, given that Ballance and Rafiq played together from around 2008.
In my opinion there is a line between banter and abuse, and unfortunately one man`s banter is another man`s abuse.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Assuming you then use racial slurs as light hearted banter?
Interesting
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If Rafiq was in tears it would be beyond banter, imo.
Rafi may have bantered back, using racial slurs too, but felt hurt and abused at the same time, just not willing to show weakness?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
From reading the stories, this is what seems to have occurred. Friends in a dressing room both making racial comments/banter to each other, but it has obviously impacted one more than the other.
I have seen this type of "banter" all over, in the armed forces and other institutions, and I am not a fan of it. But I am not sure it screams institutional racisms, or just young guys being stupid.

Ballance should not get the sack. He did wrong and if he's willing to accept what he did was wrong and he will learn from this etc etc then that should be it.
The people who should be fired are in the board. They tried to brush it under the carpet, deny it, provide little details as possible with retracted findings and then declare that the matter is closed and no one is being punished was the final straw.
Head need to roll from the board.
The money they have lost from this and the damage will take years to repair.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I agree, I just wonder if they will see that as the easy way out in making a statement by sacking one of their key players.
Ballance has at least issued an apology to Rafiq which from what I can see, the club have failed to do at any stage since the report came out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
YCCC didn’t even refer to “racism” they referred to the document as just the “report”
Failed to mention it was anything to do with racism at all.

So they said, ‘we will start calling you Steve’. Initially, they started calling me ‘Puj’, but they have started calling me Steve again. It’s a good nickname, but I prefer Cheteshwar.”

I play cricket with an Asian lad and he laughed his bollox off when he heard this. You would have to be a special kind of snowflake to take offence at that.
