FPS - Battlefield v CoD

First I will start with CoD.

My opinion is especially at launch its complete mess, i really hate it. But let it be known that I prefer treyarch based multi their TTK is higher and they go for the more unrealistic better visibility graphic style. The game is riddled and I mean riddled with bugs, granted a lot of them will be fixed. Challenges cannot be competed (certain challenges dont track and others ask you do things with attachments that the gun does not have. Spwns are awful but normally are upon lunch til they get fixed so they get a pas on this. Then I move onto the things I hate the most, first of all the TTK is prob the quickest a CoD has ever been and I hate it. No time to react in average older cods, more traditoinal CoDs have a TTK or around 300-400 ms for the quicker weapons, on average Vanguards weapons have a TTK of around 200ms with some around 80ms thats insanely fast, no time to react and in many under 200ms is almost as fast or faster than you can raise your gun to fire back. It caters to poorer players to help them get kills higher TTK = a bigger skill gap. The visibility is poor, I like everyone love the MW engines graphics, they look amazing, very grity and the lighting looks excellent ....however NOT for a mulitplayer game. The high amount of textures and graininess means that characters get washed out very easily and can be hard to make out, if thy go into the shadows in some areas they straight up disappear and then pop back up when that move out the shadows (it just looks like what you see when a game has poor draw distance and thing just pop up as they load in) md 9/10 you fid yourself aiming just below red tags rather than actual character models. The 10 attachments thing is awful, make guns far too easy to use due to all the modifications you can put on, and you can use every attachment slot available to you so no longer have a trade off as taking something over another attachment you can take them all. Again caters to poorer players. Killstreaks (this ourely preference) I prefer scorestreaks, they help keep the game objective based, Killstreaks encourage people to camp areas for fer of dying and losing them, they actively dicourage people from being objective cos if they are 1or 2 kills of another streak no way are they pushing an objective (meanwhile if it was scorestreaks they would jump on the objective to get that next streak) its a small change that massively affects play style IMO. So many deisions been made in order to cater towards poorer players picking up cheap easy kills

sorry rant over im just so annoyed that I bought the battlepass for it and now need to slog for a season to get my money back on it lol and I really dont fancy playing it. It requires a lot of fixes before I get to a stage that I want to play it.

BF2042. I have obv not been able to sink the time into this as compared to CoD. However Portal is AMAZING, going back and playing remastered versoins of all the older BFs is not only nostalgic but they have done a great job at it. Once the community gets up to speed with it will be hard to beat. It feels very much like an updated BF4 which Im very happy with, I dont think Haard zone wll have much an impact and tbf I wold have preferred a more competive BR style game to go onto this but also accept that BR may become stale soon and fall of he cliff. Id say that the game is almost worth it for Portal alone being able to completely customise games over previous favourite maps and weapons is awesome and Dice have confirmed that they will be constantly adding content to Portal.

What are your guy opinions curious to gauge the general consensus as I know I can be independent in my views and I tend to lean over making a better competitive game rather than a full out casual effort

I'm still playing Apex Legends!

Have no interest in COD, they've been churning out rubbish for years.

na cold war was decent (albeit a terrible scorestreak system, spot the theme!)
I hated MW for much of the reasons given above.

Cold War & WW2 were the last two CoD's i actually enjoyed and WW2 had to be completely revamped before it became decent enough. the only reason I got Vanguard this year was for warzone as I it just seems to get further and further away from what I want.

This current one is horrific granted it will improve with patches but at its core it just isnt for me.

Modern warfare is still mine and my wife's go to game when we play together.

I prefer coldwar to MW however the split screen on it is far worse in terms of frame rate and textures so we play that.

One major, and I do mean major benefit of cod war was the fact that they completely reset and overhauled the zombie storyline.

The different game modes and ability to play a twenty round game really worked well.

The Easter eggs are much more better placed as well, they are still challenging enough to mean that everyone on your team has to be on the same page, but not full of completely over the top ridiculous steps you could never do unless every single person was on the same page all the time.

Uts easily the best zombie experience since probably the original blackops

Yeh for me it's BF all the way - 2042 is ok......but Portal is where it's at, and I can only image it's gonna get bigger. Seriously I have played more BF3 and 1942

But really there is soooo much content, and just wait for people to really get their teeth into Portal - we are gonna see some messed up and super cool stuff.

I primarily play with a Warzone crowd, and most those have said the same thing, Vanguard is fine, but they are already getting done with it and really want the new WZ map, and hoping that does enough as quite a few stopped playing CoD as regularly and were starting to wane on Warzone.

Only downside to BF is the crossplatform isn't so crossplatform, so a big part of my friend are on last gen

yeah core game mode is ok, nothing to special... a bit meh..its battledfield and considering the problem they have had its a reasonably stable launch (for battlefield standards anyway) Like you said Portal is where its at and will continue to grow once people get their teeth into it properly, its gonna be great.

Both out for a while now, anyone had both? Which has been better received or are they both garbage?

Both pretty broken right now, find I am playing more Warzone purely because BF fooked the crossplatform completely (though I need to see if it's fixed now) as before PC/PS5/XSX played together, and PS4/OX played the cut down versions. However apparently 128 players is so broken they decided to turn it off for Xmas.

Warzone is pretty much just warzone - new map is fun but buggy as hell and everyone can still play together but by all accounts the old gen is struggling. Vanguard though is just pure garbage, oy saving grace is the campaign and even that's ok. Come back in 6 months, both games have potential but now isn't great.

Yes sir, all CoD stuff is cross-platform as far as I am aware. This would only be an issue for Battlefield 2042 that unless has changed is not cross-gen
