I’m talking about social Darwinism, Jinja. That seemed to be the angle you were going with when you said this:
I just thought it was interesting what people thought if it from an evolution/biology perspective rather than a religious one (the two seem to have similarities imo)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wasn't limiting it to social darwinism. Wider context.
The footballer guy said it was against nature. The biology book I referred to says it's a malfunction (not reproducing). Darwin's (and others) work on sexual selection also focus on reproduction being the be all and end all.
Sounds similar to me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would you accept that once a species with no predators is established to the level that it's actually overpopulating its environment then reproduction as a survival technique is less of an imperative?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not so sure I do.
There is a theory that women with homosexual kin have more kids than women with hetrosexual kin.
Also a study showed homosexual couples who have kids have more than one. Iirc almost 40% of homosexual couples go on to have kids

From general observation much of the most abhorrent treatment of homosexuals comes from religious people battling against their own homosexuality

Afaik, chimps and bonobos don't do cannibalism. Chimps do kill chimps from rival groups, but I don't think they eat them. They do hunt and eat monkeys, though I don't know if that includes other ape species or not.
It would be interesting to know whether they fack dead chimps though, because if they don't, that might be interesting subject matter for a potential doctoral thesis about what actually separates humans from other animals.

It’s a daft quote, to be fair.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s poorly put point, but the general message behind it is a valid one. Religion is the source behind many of the planets ills. But then so is politics and money amongst other things. The one common denominator is man.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But that isn’t the general message, it’s an atheist view of religion. It’s not giving agency to man but to religion itself.
But it’s a daft quote because it doesn’t really make any sense, there’s numerous different ways in which good people can do evil without religion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It could be said that religon is a driver for good.
Most of our laws are based on the 10 Commandments.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And the Ten Commandments are some derivative of Hammurabi’s Code.
It wasn’t a lawless free-for-all before the Ten Commandments rocked up.
I'm no theological scholar, but if god made man in his own image does that mean there's a part of him that's a little bit gay?

People espouse social Darwinism, they are every bit as backwards as religious fanatics.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A good number of 19th century European intellectuals, politicians and soldiers felt that Darwin's theories justified their efforts to wipe out entire peoples. Their reasoning was that according to the theory of evolution, those peoples they viewed as inferior were destined to become extinct, so killing them was simply enacting God's will. Some even argued that it was an act of mercy to put them out of their misery rather than allow them to slowly die out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think Darwin is probably resting as comfortably in his coffin as Nietzsche

----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be fair, what he said might not be acceptable in the west but the country he lives in and a lot of other countries, Muslim or not probably share his views. Even China is against it and that's one of the biggest atheist country in the world. Saying that sometimes you need to be careful what you say to the media as it will be scrutinised to the fullest, especially anything related to LGBT.
In the west, homosexuality and transgenderism etc might be considered as normal and acceptable (and that's only the past 20 years), but in a lot of other countries, they see this as shameful and immoral.

Would you accept that once a species with no predators is established to the level that it's actually overpopulating its environment then reproduction as a survival technique is less of an imperative?

It was rhetorical. Just to let creationists know that what's considered "abnormal" is already pre-existing in nature. Which means it's normal. Just like homosexuality and butt-sex.

OP, AIDS is just the human version of the monkey (simian) AIDS. Why did your god/God/G-d create monkey AIDS first? Also, do monkeys do sodomy? [Clue: yes, they do.]

From general observation much of the most abhorrent treatment of homosexuals comes from religious people battling against their own homosexuality

So is cannibalism, rape, in cest and pedophilia. That's just chimps and bonobo monkeys.

Thankfully they're rare traits although a couple of those happen to be far more common among religious people, especially the leaders of the major religions

I meant that following the logical chain, it's obvious that god/God/G-d created monkey AIDS to punish gay monkeys.

I have nothing against anyone doing things in their private lives and am against violence to anyone living their lives peacefully no matter what they are or do. However, keep that private life private don’t force me to wear Rainbows or Ribbons am tired of all these politics in our games.

Nobody's forcing you to wear anything. It's a campaign promoting inclusion and diversity, why do you class that as politics?

To be fair, what he said might not be acceptable in the west but the country he lives in and a lot of other countries, Muslim or not probably share his views. Even China is against it and that's one of the biggest atheist country in the world. Saying that sometimes you need to be careful what you say to the media as it will be scrutinised to the fullest, especially anything related to LGBT.
In the west, homosexuality and transgenderism etc might be considered as normal and acceptable (and that's only the past 20 years), but in a lot of other countries, they see this as shameful and immoral.
