Is this going to be that Chris Armas fellow? If so the things I have read about him today don't read too well for him. Toronto and NYRB fans seem to say his football was absolutely shocking.
Granted he was their head coach and for us he would only be a standard coach so that makes some difference I guess.
This is the issue with appointing an Interim head coach mid season. Not easy to then get a team together for him.
Agreed, not a bad start for Ralf though I would have taken off McTominey for Matic in last half hour as we were running out of ideas to open up Palace's defense. Got a bit of luck with the goal considering it was Fred with his weaker foot.

Seems to have been a disaster at Toronto but saw this about red bull
"The statistics also showed they had the fastest ball recoveries in the MLS, with the highest press, and played the most direct attacking style - traits accustomed with Rangnick's methods."
He's worked with him before... Saw quotes that he wanted a couple of familiar faces to work alongside existing staff but some of his people are already employed elsewhere

Yeah might not be a huge issue as I say because he will be working under Ralf.
Don't think we can know for sure how good he is though and deserves a chance.

Danny Higginbottom on twitter saying Armas tried to implement the high pressing game at Toronto but squad wasn't suited and too old
Saw a few scouting pages tweeting about hafi stats being better at red bull under him
You'd trust Ralf knows he must be capable enough to at least help get his methods in place

It was a great goal and no luck about it, but I think it's a fair remark in the context of the point about the attack not carving out lots of clear-cut chances. In terms of expected goal stats, you don't get much less clear cut than a Fred first time finish on his right foot from outside the box.
Some sports psychologist also just been announced to be joining the staff.

That’s just for Rangnick, he’s been traumatised watching AWB try to play football.

Just seen a Twitter rumour that Jesse Marsch could be joining Rangnick's staff. By the end of the week we could be up to our ears in recently sacked American coaches. The twists of footballing fortune are such that there's no reason to doubt their qualities just because they have had failures as head coaches, but I'm rioting if any of them use the word 'offence', especially if they put the stress on the first syllable.

Ralf said his priority was to establish control and be more solid defensively, and we did that. Sorting out the attacking patterns should come next.
So you keep saying.

I wouldn’t have thought you’d see too many interviews from them.
Tbf these guys all seem like Rangnick disciples so it can only bode well.
No reason why McKenna can't learn their ways either. He's young enough. Phelan I'm not entirely sure what he's still doing here. He's a relic and needs putting out to pasture.
Yeah we were never going to see huge changes but the changes we did see were promising. With this 4222 formation it seems we really are going to need some offensive quality from our fallbacks and while Dalot and Telles haven't done bad the past 2 games we surely need better.
Also this narrower formation will see Sancho play alot more centrally, I know Rangnick wanted to buy him at Leipzig so rates him but can he be as effective in a more central position rather than the RW role we clearly bought him for?
Finally, with 4222 you pretty much have 2 #10s meaning VdB and Pogba (and Lingard) might get more chances further forward if they're still around?

I think Shaw walks back into the side anyway when he returns and if he gets anywhere near back to his best he'll stay there because he's our best ball progressor from deep and he's obviously a better defender than Telles.
Dalot actually impressed me yesterday with his front foot defending and his involvement in our build up. Some of his passes were really good. It could just be a little purple patch of form for him but if it's not maybe he actually has some sort of future at the club if he keeps playing like that.
Sancho is intelligent and technically gifted enough to operate anywhere and perform different roles across the width of the pitch which he did at Dortmund.
I think Lingard will be gone next month and Pogba in the summer. VdB could work well in one of those roles though. Might see him there against Young Boys if he's not in midfield.

I agree Shaw should be getting in if he can recapture his form but that isn’t necessarily going to happen. I feel like he’s a real confidence player who needs the right manager to make him happy and I have no idea if Rangnick is that sort of manager?
