As great as it is to see this, players aren’t usually vocal on refs
Good.
He's 18 years old now. A grown man. With that comes the responsibility for anything that comes out of his mouth.
Now he knows to provide categorical proof the next time he decides to impugn someone else's professional integrity.
DFB is corrupt and dreadful.
Absolute joke.
He ran his mouth and he's gotta take his punishment but that said he's asked a fair damned question. Personally I'd have gone one further and been asking why any referee previously involved in a match fixing scandal was being allowed to referee ANY game, let alone a top flight one. Any player, ref coach that's gets caught up like that has to be banned from professional sport (not just footy) for life. Because they are one of three things:
Blatantly guilty
Complicit in silence
Too stupid to see what was going on around them and put a stop to it.
And it doesn't really matter which one it is, since all 3 a danger to the integrity of the relevant game and big time competitive sport in general.
Good on him I say, kid should pay em 100k and call out the crook with the whistle again.
Was always going to get fined for this.
I should think so too
Dortmund should be forced to sell him to City for £10m
Anyone seen the incident and know whether the ref made the right call? There's a much stronger case for him saying what he did, if the refs decision was the wrong one. VAR backing the ref at the time means very little since we've all seen multiple incorrect VAR decisions now.
Only refs who've never been in match fixing scandals should be given the benefit of the doubt over a high profile game decision they made being the wrong one. But then that wouldn't be an issue if refs who have been involved in match fixing scandals could never ref again as a result. THAT sh!t needs some investigating, as in which high profile footy official/owner was getting paid of the match fixing too. Cos they're likely how that dude still has a top flight job. Because it's not usually the sort of stink a sport allows an official to have lingering around them. Precisely to avoid a situation like this one.
