should be compulsory for premier league footballers to be vaccinated too, reports that only 60% vaccinated disgraceful
----------------------------------------------------------------------
At least they’ve mandated NHS and Care Home Staff.

Ludicrous that these people are still wondering around hospitals unvaccinated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
it's ludicrous that anyone is...

Nothing should be mandated when there could be the issue of getting side effects, no indemnity for these companies, no help for those who have issues.

This is not an uncommon story, it's just hidden from main stream news, it's disgusting what they are doing denying that it was the jab that made them like this.

The problem with stuff like this is that it's all about context. Someone, in the world today will have died from having a reaction to Paracetamol but you don't get 1000's of stories about that. In fact, probably loads of people have.

There's a risk to everything we put in our body but in something like the Covid vax, is obvious the gains far far outweigh the risks. We all have a choice but unvaccinated people have to accept that, for now, access to certain places/events will be restricted. Or they have to test regularly. Which we should all be doing anyway, really.

160,000 people dying in their own fluid ha ha ha ha. You are a cretin if you believe that. Do you recall at the beginning of the apparent pandemic the reports from Spain where APPARENTLY loads of people were dying in hospital floors. My best friend who lives in Spain never saw that.

Sorry not articulated very well. What I meant was they wasn't showing people laying on hospital floors waiting to die which was all over our news just as we're being told about COVID. Why was that not national news in Spain.

I’m not anti vaxxer or anything like that, but I can’t see the covid passports doing much good, they haven’t in other countries from what I’ve read. Vaccinated people can still get it and pass it around, although at a slightly reduced risk, surely a negative test is better than proving vaccination (I know that counts as well in the passes), I suppose as well you could test day before, then get it the day after so that’s not 100% either. Just can’t see it these passes having a significant effect on case numbers

Never mind

With the government led experts again today forewarning of the impending tsunami of infections and rapid transmission rate (increasingly so every day), we’ll all be infected by New Year’s Eve.

28 days after that the remainder of the population still alive or recovering can get on with their lives surely?

Mind you; showing a passport and wearing a mask more will change all that of course.

Who actually believes this sheite? The numbers being trotted out as modelling make no sense at all.

Yes gingernuts. I can't believe educated people are not questioning it more.
Some guy was saying 160,000 people died in the UK from COVID.
Why keep saying died within 28 days of testing positive.
Did they die of COVID or not surely they can elaborate

posted on 15/12/21

My gut feel is that it’s an attempt to drive the booster campaign as hard and as fast as is humanly possible.

If they really believed these numbers we’d all have been locked down and much harder than ever before.

The vaccine passports isn’t to do with reducing spreading it around, it’s to do with reducing the chances of unvaccinated people catching it and overloading the hospitals.

posted on 15/12/21

Yeah I know that’s part of it, but a vaccinated person could still have it and pass it to a load of unvaccinated people, and unless your test was immediately before the game you could have caught it after your test. It might make a small difference, just can’t see it making that much better impact. I guess it’s more of a tool to make people get vaccinated, which if that works then great. We’ll have to see

I think a lot of dealing with the pandemic is about marginal gains. I’ve made a point on another thread about masks - of course some of the rules about where we are asked to wear them lead to Monty Python-style absurdity, but that’s because there has to be a middle ground between people wearing them all the time, everywhere (impossible) and just not bothering at all (unhelpful and probably reckless).

It’s similar with these passports. An office of 20 vaccinated people, with a mix of ages, underlying conditions etc, will likely fare better with a Covid outbreak (in terms of hospitalisations and deaths) than a similar office of 20 unvaccinated people. So spread that out across a population and it can make quite a big difference, though of course there will be lots of instances where vaccinated people do spread, end up in hospital and die etc.

I’m not in favour of vaccine passports for a few reasons - not least that I feel for the poor souls who are going to have to ‘enforce’ these rules at large venues. And I do understand vaccine hesitancy. But that’s the horrible situation we’re in: I do feel that, if a person makes the choice not to get vaccinated, then however ‘right’ that might be for them on a personal level, it’s a tiny backward step on a societal level in terms of putting the pandemic behind us, and these passports try to offset that a little.

Difficult times still to come, unfortunately.

How are grounds going to check 70k fans on a match day?

Not happening, there isn’t the infrastructure in place.
