A couple of weeks in January makes sense. Dull FA Cup games, only a couple of league games.

Kick in the balls for any lower league team that has got a good draw and would rely on gate receipts to boost their finances though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Practically the entire traditional big 6 except United then. Imagine my shock.
We got Villa for like the 1,000,000th time in round three. Apparently the most repeated FA cup draw of all time at that stage.
I would expect clubs in England to push for postponement rather than empty grounds now - they will want those gate receipts

Very true, but games without fans is a much rosier picture than no games at all. Football makes these trying times a little easier to take.

Impossible with a world cup end of 2022.
Football will make a decision itself to postpone if that is the case.
And we should probably take it as ready that three weeks means three months.
They've already made a statement about 13 players + GK.
Most clubs will get 4/5 cases of Covid at any one time, many will get less.
The TV companies, backed by the clubs will go for games played behind closed doors.
In all fairness, depending on how they judge it, football grounds are actually one of the safest places to be ironically as you have to have had 2 vaccinations as well as a negative test before entering the ground, so theoretically they should be one of the safest places to be.
I don't think it's the actual football grounds themselves that'll be the problem. It'll be the transport there and the pubs before and after games that'll have people indoors in close proximity that'll be the biggest problem.

People are sat/stood next to each other for nearly 2 hours at a time, that would still be an issue.
A major issue seems to be the players. Of course fans of clubs will test positive, but their seat would likely be taken up in the PL at least anyway.
It's time to cancel football. Get rid of this archaic game of placing the ball across another teams goalline and reinstate gladiatorial combat

Just cancel the season. Unlike last time when there was one team so far ahead it was an inevitability this time it’s close enough to null & void

Can we travel back to when Chelsea were good and top.
Am fine wi Rangers situation too.
Premier League wait for government decision as games could move behind closed doors next week.
Should the turnstiles be closed again, all top-flight games will be broadcast on television.
Government sources indicate that December 28 would be a starting date for a “circuit-breaker” that could stretch to the end of January depending on data. (SPORT)
