It's hardly 'inexplicably' since it has been explained.

Indeed it has. Nice to see Rangers catch up with the rest of the teams. Just Ross County to fall in line now.

to “allow their young players to be exposed to playing in front of large crowds, especially in Glasgow Derbys”

If that’s true…

Yes. That's what I saw too.

Inexplicable when you consider their stance on games needing to be played.

The Scottish Lowland Football League can confirm that a daily testing regime will be introduced for playing staff, team staff and club board members.

The decision was made following discussions with the Scottish Football Association earlier today and will come into effect from Monday.

As announced by the Scottish Government yesterday, from Boxing Day and for three weeks thereafter, football attendances will be capped at 500 people in line with all outdoor events.

One metre physical distancing will also be required within a stadium during that time.

League Chairperson, Thomas Brown, said: “Today’s decision will ensure that we can continue to play games in as safe as an environment as possible.

“We are aware that some clubs will now have to implement a process for allocating tickets to ensure that they comply with the maximum attendance at games and we thank them for doing so.

“Since the start of the pandemic Lowland League clubs have adapted quickly and effectively to all the restrictions and we will continue to do so.”

A decision about testing requirements for the Development League will be made in due course.

Why don’t they just have another ‘charity’ game then?

The whole point of scheduling the B team game at Ibrox when they did was to give the kids the opportunity to play in front of a decent crowd.

They were on track to have 10-15k at the game which would have been a big difference to the usual 500 or so.

Celtic had already followed suit and moved their home OF game to Parkhead from Airdrie.

Aye. It's important that the young players get the opportunity to play in front of corporate hospitality.

And exactly what other industry or area of employment demands daily testing to be able to operate?

Mental cwnts.

I think that’s a decent reason to postpone the ‘B’ team game. It’s good that there are some reasons that are acceptable for delaying games. Wanting the chance for more fans to attend games versus wanting more fans to attend a game. I can see why one choice causes so much consternation versus another.

Just takes me back to when clubs were wanting to end the league and rangers wanted it to continue-despite the fact they ripped their pitch up before the vote was decided.

As for the rule that you can ask for a postponement for games if you have a number of players away on internationals-I’m sure it’s been used before in Scotland.

Are they not doing similar for care home workers, and health care?

A bit unfair. Some manufacturing can operate at half capacity. Most offices can deal with WFH. A football team needs a minimum number and the gov has at least put in place testing capability.

Our Canadian friends can confirm but Ii heard via rellys that they have to queue at chemists and get allowed one test each? That is pretty sh"t though I get that most of them live in remote cabins and pump elk.

Anyway, does it not go to a vote in the SLFL or are Rangers running roughshod over the rules?

I expect Greegsy will be along soon to greet about it?

There may be areas in there but I’m not sure they’d be classed as “areas of the market” in the same way.

Nonetheless it’s way over the top in comparison shall we say.

Still doesn’t correlate that the demand to operate depends almost entirely on a rule that they MUST test daily.

Whilst I don’t want it to happen; the meltdown would be terrific if the league was just cancelled completely during January.

Let’s face it; decent or capacity crowds won’t be allowed back in until end of the season and then we’ll likely be in the same boat coke next winter because erm; the NHS can’t cope.

TWatt has signed a pre-contract agreement with Dundee Utd. At 27 years old and banging in the goals for Motherwell, I can't help but think we've missed out here, especially with our injury woes.
