Cook should have continued playing. Retired too early.

Time to find some new batsmen and retire Broad and Anderson, the building starts now for the next Ashes.

Archer and Stone are 2 pacey bowlers that need to be playing, problem is they are always injured like Wood.

Need to find a quality spinner and a better keeper than Butter.

I'm not sure who is out there knocking on the door as batsmen, maybe young Brook at Yorkshire who has impressed whenever I have seen him.

Major surgery and a rethink of how the championship is played is needed, so we start producing test match players again rather than white ball players.

I think Stokes is also overrated.. hes never a number 5..

replying to the comment above.. I doubt either Archer or Stone will ever play test cricket again..Archers elbow looks knackered and Stone was considering retiring due to repeated stress fractures

I know its left field but i would give Sam Billings a go at test level. I think he has a decent defense and looks like he can score runs.Just looked hes 30... Another 1 who was shoe horned into just 1 day cricket

England once more beaten by a team that – on paper at least – they should be equal to. It's not about the talent we've got, it's about the mentality of the players – England football teams have traditionally suffered from the same affliction, namely the lack of mental strength when required to step up. I wouldn't be surprised to see England now do what they've done so many times, namely make a game of the final tests now there's nothing left to play for and the pressure's off. Thereby allowing deluded English media and fans alike to say they put up a decent show.

Foakes should be batting 7 as the keeper

Lawrence deserves a run in the side

Fairly doomed for openers

Basically we've gone actually backwards from the last Ashes drubbing, Jimmy has got older & nearer retirement, too many ODI players in the side, because we can't find anything better & Root is the only genuine contemporary class in the side...it's fackin shameful & embarrassing

Maybe we just play sides that we can beat for a couple of years

Canada Ireland France....

Maybe England should give chances to batters who do well in the county championship. Burns, Sibley, Vince. Oh wait....

The County Championship is joke level as far as I can tell...not that I watch it

Theres not much motivation for country cricket players. when you get paid pittence for 4 day cricket and huge money for 20/20. you can see where their loyalties lay..

I only care about test cricket. anyone can smash 50 and a win a 20/20 match. Having to face the new ball on the first morning of a testmatch is where the real stand up and be counted comes in.

Bunch of failures and then Woakes comes out and backs Root.. "pleaseeeee joeyyy look at me im being nicey nicey here to protect my place." by saying you will keep the captaincy i will play at Sydeny. Look Woakes your away record has a bowler is pathetically bad an you should never play again. simple
