Ffs, I thought he'd died.
Nay lad, just reminiscing . . .
(not many good times for us at the moment )
I was there. Although I never received any champagne!!!!
Happy New Year Sloppy
What !! you were there, in the hotel?
I was backpacking in Australia at the time, we didn't get the football results until Monday in those days.
Just as well.
btw - have you got an alert that notifies you when I post something ? . . . .
I was at that game.
I’m a City fan, and my first memory from that day was turning up to Maine Road to get one of the coaches to take us to Hillsborough, and seeing a taxi driver beat the crap out of a City fan who had tried to avoid paying for his taxi.
Sat in the upper tier of the Leppings Lane, hung over and don’t recall at all Hirst having go in goal. Do recall thinking that Wednesday were never in danger of losing that game. It wasn’t a good new year that year!!!

You're making up for it now though
I was younger back then (obviously), but I did enjoy it so much more, simply because I was able to go to pretty much every game home and away (can’t do that these days). We weren’t a bad team in 1990 though. And Wednesday at that time were decent too.
Yeah, me too. I've still got a season ticket but pick and choose away games these days. That era was the best in my living memory, culminating in the 1991 Rumbelows Cup win against your neighbours

No, I meant the only other Owls' fan, Sloppy. He's like the scarlet pimernel, but seems to find me regardless
That'll be Pimpernel . . .
I have no fear of Owls' fans ππ
. . . it's the players that have me worried
He also had the fastest shot in PL history. Or did.
Yes, in 1996 it was 114mph, but has since been surpassed by 4 others, i think.
Not necessarily in the PL though . . .

When I think of Sheffield Wednesday I always think of the opening fixture of the 1994/95 season. Set a precedent for the rest of the season under Ossie before he was sacked. Scoring lots of goals but also conceding them.
Be nice to have Wednesday back in the EPL again. Would always want them to win a Steel derby too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I remember it well, Klinsmann doing his 'dive' celebration after scoring the winning goal
Would be lovely to get the PL one day, before I shuffle off this mortal coil
