We are forgetting spurs as well. We were 2-1 up after coming from behind.
But today we had no control bar say 5 mins near the end of the game.
And it's not just the high line. Brentford and West ham was just long punts and set pieces. Spurs was incisive counter attacks.
Spurs we were behind first...i did actually include it but then edited it out as we were not leading, and the article states "when in the lead"...but yes, spurs is one we should have held onto as well.

Not saying we should have won them all but at least three of them we should have( Brighton..CFC and Brentford for me). It seems we are far too easy to score against and we do concede too often pretty soon after we score.
Is klopp leaving too open this season?

Liverpool have been involved in some very entertaining games because they are cavalier in attack but now not so solid at the back. Also I think rather than the draws being a disappointment you were actually lucky to get two points from Spurs and Chelsea.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spurs yes not sure re Chelsea. When you look at the actual shots on goal etc I think we had slightly more and was always it felt one pass going clean through

Did they?? Well I fkd that up then
Point of article still stands in that we have dropped far too many points from winning positions.
Brighton and Brentford the ones that stand out where we were particularly complacent and sloppy to throw it away.
It's your midfield imo. It's good at the hustle and bustle, but when it comes to slowing games down and passing around the opponent's it comes up short imo.
I notice.....another well thort out artical from GotBetter

Tend to agree with you.
I think we have lost something in mf...maybe hendo and milner age is starting to show. The injuries to fab..thiago and fabinho havent helped either.
Defensively i think we are fine but i do agree rhat the mf is letting runners get in and not closing down as they used too.
I like to see a mf of fab..keita and thiago going forward
The problem is that when we are ahead the midfield is continuing to play with the 2 midfielders on the left and right to far out . We have been playing with them much further forward in a triangle with the attacker and FB and it’s fine offensively but we need to tighten it up once we are ahead
I think it could be down to not having Wij in the middle.
It is a mix of things. Luck being one - Kovacic goal outstanding as it was is still a one in a hundred given the circumstances as an example. Being a bit more pragmatic is another - again using yesterday, no need for the ridiculous high line and cavalier push for a 3rd. Control the game and see it out at least long enough to force the opposition to start taking a risk too far. Exciting to watch whereas city approach is admirable in its control and relies on lapses in concentration.

nope you were outplayed on all stats, be grateful for the point.
The issue is we can't manage games when taking the lead. All we need is keep possession and let the midfield support the defence more than the attack. Henderson and Thiago are the common dominators here. Henderson started in all these games but Thiago didn't. Henderson let players pass through him and scared to make tackles and physical challenges while Thiago is the opposite.
Henderson also started against Leicester and West Ham our only defeats. Thiago didn't. Thiago started in our last seven wins Villa, Newcastle, Wolves, Everton, Southampton Porto, (not included Milan becuase we played our B or C team) and Arsenal
Bit unlucky with the Kovacic goal. 99 times out of a hundred that’s in the car park. You can’t defend those. Always seems to me ‘Pool are formidable playing at a high temp, but struggle to keep control when it drops.
Look at the percentage balls we play.
Look at how we conceded that free that led to thier shot and goal
Ball played to trent poorly who has back to play. Straight back to konate who's closed takes a touch and plays to keeper who also takes a touch and plays to vvd who's also getting close. Another unnecessary touch from vvd and then he plays to tsimikas who is back to play and already closed down.
Then him.and mane conspire to lose ball in own half rather than anyone playing the ball into a channel high up and fighting for it.
Then islets a break and two.milner nibbles. Most of the time this stuff didnt hurt us that.much but it only takes one occasion.
Then look at second goal. Henderson lifts silly ball over to trent rather than hoof it up in the channel for someone to chase. Trent was already closed down so can only head it on but he doesn't head it high either. Rudiger then does well with a positive balm and they are in seconds later.
Bother goals are preventable at 2-0 up by playing a simple percentage ball into a channel where if Chelsea win it we can press them.
We were at that constantly, it was amazing we were 2-0 up at all as we simply kept giving it up and were constantly exposed.
It's amazing that carragher made a comment nobody picked up on. There is no cover. Each cb is on their own and its play offside all the time. No cover, huge gaps and the midfield usually awol chasing up but jogging back.
Our goals against record verses anyone in the top half of the table is not good at all.
Also we need to acknowledge kamikaze blue comment above. Trent and vvd were shattered after 60mins. Chelsea were fitter, stronger and faster than us.
We caught them twice with sucker punches, one awful error by the kid and once and the only time it was Alonso v salah not rudiger who owned salah for the other 98mins played!
When we can press up fast and make people make hoofs for us to compete for we are fine but once the intensity drops a little the team goes passive and players get time to pick passes.
2-2 was actually better than we might have expected going into game.
Teams are playing out of their skins to beat us ..
We are the team to beat , not city ....its as if teams are happy enough to.get the city game out of the way and accept the defeat ...
As in personel ...im.not sure milly and hendo together is what we need ....
Id love to see a fully fit thiago and a fully fit keita but thats not gonna happen..
I.think klopps need to a proper look at additions next summer at that midfield for sure...
As in the title race....cant see us clawing that back...too many fkking draws ...
Id take a league cup , cl or the fa cup and cl for next year...ill stay optimistic..but city are too good
