343 doesn't work anyway for me with son and lucas and that midfield 2. 352 all the way.

Need another forward to compete with Son and Kane who are gonna be dead on their feet and both get away with poor form through no other options.

A rwb and cb preferable also.

Get rid of Tanganga, Rodon and Doherty; and Ndombele and Bergwijn if we get good offers.

Chelsea are a far better team with better players, bigger better squad, manager been there longer etc. First half was terrible but 2nd half we competed.

Let's win the fa cup and finish 4th coys coys coys

What’s the main diff between those 2 formations? I wouldn’t say we play 343 cos lucas and Son aren’t even very wide. Its basically 3412 with lucas just behind kane/son? In which case changing to 352 is basically just replacing lucas with a different CAM i.e. ndombele/dele/lo celso?

It's about roles innit, not positions. A 352 (presumably) means one holding playmaker and two box to box runners, which would each start in deeper midfield areas and (presumably) be a bit better at retaining/progressing possession. Lucas clearly isn't playing any of those roles at the moment.

If we can shift Doherty, Rodon and Tanganga in this window, bring in quality LCB, RWB and CM would be a start.

Honestly we need to upgrade 7 or 8 players

Agree on the 343. Not a big fan of it generally, but you can't play big teams with just Skipp and a technically poor Hoijberg.

Poor decision by Conte..he went man for man against a superior team

Liked the look of Gil.. we need him to cause problems on the flanks.

Lucas cuts in too much and too easy to read by quality defenders

Haha I was just waiting for these comments to pop up because he had 1 run
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tbf was more than Lucas or Kane done all game. Even Son tbh. Kane was atrocious though, not only does he go missing but he gives the ball away so much these days.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This, and never gets called up on it. He's wasteful and hold up play has got a lot worse

Some of these comments are laughable. We just lost the first leg, away, against the European champions….by 2 goals. And some are ready to give up on the entire team all over again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No one is giving up, just showing the difference in quality on the ball. Chelsea players anticipate the second ball far better than our players also

This article is massive emotional overreaction. Chelsea are quite simply better than us. They have equal and better players in most areas of the pitch. Currently champions of Europe who we played away from home. Lost 2-0 to arguably two own goals / defensive errors.

It’s not like we got hammered 4-0 and all four goals cut right through us.

Second half still to play for back at WHL. COYS

“ It’s not like we got hammered 4-0 and all four goals cut right through us. ”

No we didn’t but we should have though if weren’t for poor finishing by them.

Could’ve would’ve should’ve

We should have scored four goals against Liverpool in the first half the other week, but we didn’t.

At the end of the day, we lost 2 nil away at Stamford Bridge. Second half to play for at WHL and all is not lost.

Setting aside spending by clubs lucky enough to afford it ( City & Chelsea ) who have experienced success in a short period of time, with very little need for good coaching or medium to long term squad planning, if you go back to, say end of 2017 season, Spurs were probably only second to City in terms of first team and squad strength.

At that time we were ahead of Liverpool, Arsenal, Utd and probably Chelsea, with league table positions over that and the previous 2/3 years to prove it.

Yet here we are 4 years on, clearly now behind all these teams, and now competing with the likes of Leicester and, god forbid, West Ham for the 'we finished 6th cup'

So who to blame for that ?

As I said, I get we can't compete with the 'just go out and buy the best for a quick fix' brigade, but we are more than capable of planning and coaching, to ensure we at least try to maintain our position in the food chain.

For me, we are where we are currently due to:

30% player mentality. Fact is we DO have players who should be experienced enough and technically able to complete with the other so called 'big 6' teams. Kane, Son, Hugo just to name three. But time and again these players disappear in big games. I get they can be coached more and more, but ultimately their mentality is on them.

70% club planning and development. That is entirely on Levy. This guy has not only made several catastrophically bad decisions, either in who he has brought in, or not brought in. He is the Chairman and as such, should have recognised where we were in 2017, and taken the right steps to ensure the club continued to progress. He basically sat back, penny pinched, and allowed the club to sit still ( therefore move backwards ) and watch his rivals move past him.
Yeah, the stadium is fantastic, but the playing staff are not good enough, which is down to investment. I don't mean City levels, but somewhere near to some of the others, which just has not happened.

He has now should a degree of progression and common sense in going out and getting a top manager, albeit it took him three goes to do that, but will mean nothing if this is not followed through with investment in playing staff that befits a club who DO want regular top 4.

I don't mean actually winning the title. That boat sailed a long time ago with City, who will dominate the PL for years, but at least be seen as a club that, as was the case in 2017, are above Leicester, West Ham, Arsenal and recognised as at least on a par with the likes of Liverpool
