Is he anti vax though or is he anti being forced to take the covid vaccine which was a created in an extremely quick period of time and b not really proved effective of catching or transmitting the disease?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The science very clearly shows that the vaccines reduce the likelihood of contracting the disease, the periods of time people are infectious, and the likelihood of transmitting to others.

This is the nuance that people either forget or choose not to remember.
I completely understand why some people are not keen on taking blanket advice from governments for their own personal health. Especially with the way government representatives have been behaving.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Government advice (to get vaccinated against a disease that has killed over five and a half million people) across the globe has been based on the widespread scientific consensus.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But this is what I mean about blanket advice from governments for personal health.
He's had it a couple of times already and probably has the antibodies. He's fit as a fiddle. An elite athlete. On top of that the vaccines are not stopping the spread, mainly reducing symptoms of illness. So why is the blanket government advice relevant for his personal health and situation?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He falsified his Visa application. He's refused to be vaccinated. Not to protect himself but to help reduce transmission to others. Which is what vaccines do.
Despite contracting covid he did not isolate thus probably infecting others.
No sympathy for him whatsoever.

I used to think this too but actually, this is not agreed scientifically and the real world data does not supports this.
Maybe in a lab you are right, but if you look at UK and the EU where you have massive amounts of vaccinated people and even Vaccine Passports, the numbers are spreading like mad which should not be the case.
Maybe it does stop the spread slightly, but not to the point where is actually matters.

The real world data suggests only hospitalization and deaths are being impacted which is amazing and I applaud that. There are a lot of experts that agree that the reduced transmission benefit is limited as well.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Vaccines have broken the link between infections and their impact on the NHS.
Now that's happened, people getting infected in such good numbers is actually a good thing due to the lack of severity of omicron. People are building antibodies and not getting seriously ill.
The numbers of people dying with covid (important word here is with) are no different to a normal flu season and I'd imagine the government are fairly happy with that.

You’re quite wrong I’m afraid: studies are consistently showing that the reduction in spread is significant.
Vaccinated people are a) less likely to become infected, b) less likely to become symptomatic, c) less likely to transmit asymptomatically (all else being equal), and d) infected for (mean average) a shorter period of time.
Compound all of that, and the difference between vaccinated and unvaccinated populations is very significant indeed.
There is a shiiiiitload of real-world data on this.

Easy to be smug about an unlikeable dckhead like Djokovic, but will that smugness still be there in April when we lose 5-10% of the NHS workforce.

This is sad.

This is for in the age of Omicron by the way. I know results were much better against previous variants but that is not the world we are in anymore.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But who cares about transmission of Omicron?
If anything the fact it's spreading like wildfire is a good thing.
In March 2020 I was receiving emails off the NHS telling me to shield because of an underlying health condition, ie Asthma.
Initially I did shield then decided I had to get on with my life so I sanitized frequently and wore a mask when in contact with others.
I had all 3 jabs but caught Covid on Boxing Day 2021. I felt crap for 4 days then bored for the remainder of the isolation period.
I’m 100% convinced that the difference between me just feeling crappy rather than being in hospital is totally down to the vaccine and non of the dung I hear from anti vaxxers will change my mind

It reduces transmission, hospitalisation and deaths. That’s literally the f*cking point.

Is he anti vax though or is he anti being forced to take the covid vaccine which was a created in an extremely quick period of time and b not really proved effective of catching or transmitting the disease?

The science very clearly shows that the vaccines reduce the likelihood of contracting the disease, the periods of time people are infectious, and the likelihood of transmitting to others.

How do we explain the record numbers in countries with Vaccine Passports implemented? And Record Numbers in the UK where 90%+ people are vaccinated. It does not add up Automatic. The real world data suggests only hospitalization and deaths are being impacted which is amazing and I applaud that. There are a lot of experts that agree that the reduced transmission benefit is limited as well.

That's not what he said though.
He said "[The ban] does go over a three-year period, but there is the opportunity for them to return in the right circumstances and that would be considered at the time."

It is political grandstanding at it's finest.
In a year when nobody is afraid of Covid anymore this'll be a distant memory.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is sad.
All those people clapping them at the beginning will now vilify them. Very sad! And shows how fickle we are.

It is one of the most impressive innovations of the 21st century. It is an incredible achievement.
The topic was about his personal choice and the true impact on those of us that are vaccinated... which is limited.
The policies don't make sense anymore but the Aussie authorities went in so hard and now they are struggling to unravel them without looking like fools...
