I'd rather we didn't but it does provide a platform for youth/squad players to get game time and experience.
Rather bin off the league cup I think.
I kind of like it, in that it gives the opportunity for the youth players to get some valuable experience. The downside of it is that it is on a Thursday night, which fecks everything up.
Say we finish 5th or 6th and then get Poch or Ten Hag.....we'd be one of the favs to win the Europa League. We haven't won a trophy now for 5 years so winning the Europa League would be good for us.
Sucks this is where we are at but that's just how it is.
I don't think I could stomach the Conference League though. That would be a new low under the parasites.
Bore off, it's a chance of a trophy and the only one the club have even the slightest chance of winning with some of these idiots in the playing squad.
Actually make it the conference league, improve the odds further. Beggars can't be choosers.
Surely these idiots can't blow this? Or have even i fallen into the trap of underestimating the depths they can sink too?

Are the 7 required players to make it even remotely possible coming in?
Enjoy European football of any kind while you still have it. Absolutely no guarantees you will be back anytime soon if you don't get it.
The trajectory over a significant period is downwards. It doesn't take much to see United floating around mid-table or worse in the seasons to come.
City have won numerous trophies since the last time we won anything. It is time we accept we are now a mediocre club. Mediocre clubs are not in a position to rather not compete for a trophy.
Finishing 4th this season is far less important to us than getting the next manager appointment right in the summer.
I only hope that if we do make a good management decision, we sort out the chaos in the boardroom too.
Europa is arguably easier to win than getting top 4 in this league. It's a good option for getting back in the CL, as you've seen previously.

The two biggest rivals are sweeping up on almost everything between them while this club give Ole three years and put Maguire, McFred and Bruno on a pedestal.
But you have to accept it or you're NoT a PrOpEr FaN.
Depends if you think we have the makings of a good squad or need a rebuild.
For me we need a rebuild and any players coming in, especially from foreign Leagues will need bedding in. Just focussing on the league will be most ideal even though that to would be less games over a season. For me less games isn't a problem if we spend more time in training and players get used to new surroundings.
I've kind of written this season off, had even with Ole before he got sacked. It would have taken miracles to stop what we are seeing currently. I kind of expected it.

Maguire, Shaw, AWB, McFred, Bruno and Rashford all need major upgrading before tournaments that involve City, Liverpool, Chelsea or even Leicester can be even contemplated.
Bruno can maybe be done internally as there's a guy who's scored in finals for this club still on the books but the rest need replacing in the market.

Tbf I don't necessarily agree with getting rid of certain players albeit I think we overpayed massively for likes of Maguire and Sancho.
I'm not as big a fan of Bruno as some are, I see the good he did but still don't think he would be the player he was given a free roll to someone in a system. I'm basing this on his Portugal role and is this season. But again I don't rule him out either
Overall we all know what needs addressing. A solid midfield. I think this will impact on our defence and our forward players. It beggars belief that the "engine room" of a club can be so neglected.
We need a good manager who can implement something in the form of a style, a philosophy and above all unity in this team. I don't even mind baby steps where we aren't competing for the title etc next season. I just want to see improvement with a view to competing in the next couple of years
Bruno can maybe be done internally as there's a guy who's scored in finals for this club still on the books but the rest need replacing in the market.

Bruno doesn't need an upgrade. He's quality. He's made the second most chances in the league this season in a very out of sorts side.
I don't even mind baby steps where we aren't competing for the title etc next season
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It would take a miracle.
You need a Klopp. Someone to come in and turn the whole ship around and rebuild it in his image.
The trouble with that is, there's no other Klopp type out there atm and you're in far worse shape than Liverpool were when he took over.

I think that Potter is the closest you are going to get from PL managers, in that he will want to oversee everything.
I don't really mind it tbh. It's no Champions league that's for sure, but it gives fringe players and younger players a chance at game time and it means we get to watch more football (which used to be a good thing, definitely not at the moment).

Someone who calls the managers tactics perfect after a 1-6 loss then ends up bragging about scoring a penalty in the same game doesn't belong at Manchester United.
And that's before i mention he hides in big games.

He's a bigger gamble than Klopp was given that he's never won anything in a decent league.
More of a possession based coach as well which would be another move away from the style of players you have. Although most of them need punted anyway so that may not matter.
If he had success somewhere bigger than Sweden and done more than treaded water with Brighton i could see him being considered but other than a nice style in England he's achieved little.

I think Klopp came at the perfect time for Liverpool. Not least (and stick with me here) you had likes of Gerrard going.
Now let me explain, this isn't a sleight on Gerrard he was a fantastic player, but he was part of the old liverpool mentality and for me became a player who tried to do everything himself due to his live and passion for the club. Klopp needed to build a team and he did but you were a club knocking on the door and just needed a Klop to get tonhe next level.
We simply aren't there and don't let the second place finishes fool you. You're right we are far worse. We are closer the white suits Liverpool than the one Klopp inherited.
We need a "Brendon" before we get a Klopp, simply to sort out mentality out
I remember finishing any lower than first back in SAF days was depressing. These days, finishing 4th for us is like a trophy. Losing a game used to ruin a weekend, now I'm over it as soon as the final whistle blows.
