Been doing that all the time Ramsdale has been in goal.
Ramsdale has been playing long passes ever since he was brought in.
Arteta is his own man, I've yet to see many similarities between him and Pep (whether that's a positive or negative). Seems just a lazy conclusion because they're both Spanish and worked together.
He spent more time under Moyes and Wenger, he's also not particularly like them either.
Other than carrying Peps cones there is no comparison
There are big differences between the two.
Attack:
Pep uses the entire pitch, especially through the centre. Whereas Arteta does not. He uses the wings exclusively.
Defending:
Pep very much defends on the front foot ie his players try to anticipate and are much closer to the attackers. They press all over the pitch rather allowing the opposition to have the ball and shrinking back in zones. Arteta's defending is very similar to how Moyes used to setup at Everton.
It's not a bad tactic against us at all but we just defended it well, certainly in the second half.
The tactic itself isn't bad however teams that succeed do it from centre midfield not the defence. That way the wide attackers are closer to goal. When you do it from defence/GK you play into Liverpool's hands because your attackers are deeper and Liverpool's full backs are higher ready to counter attack.
Arteta plays positional football, it's hard to implement, but quite easy when it's been drilled and you have the players.
This isn't something pep invented, it goes all the way back to Cruyff. Each manager who plays it will have their own tweaks and style.
Pep has the players and the required quality to carry out his instructions.
Arteta does not have the players or quality to implement Peps instructions. He makes windmill gestures which do nothing except confuse everyone. This is why we end up with the likes of Xhaka giving away penalties and getting red cards
