What?

You say it’s absolute nonsense by qualifying that the club have said it (somehow) fits into their existing pay model?

Aye ok then
----------------------------------------------------------------------

According to you they have ‘smashed’ their model.

According to the club it fits within their current pay model.

So yes I am calling nonsense based on the fact Rangers have stated the opposite of what you claim.

Listen I have had my doubts about the deal since it was first suggested. But as gambles go I think it has a half decent chance of paying off.

You are normally a cool enough customer on here Ginger. But the Ramsey deal did seem to really spook you yesterday. I suspect you know how good a player Ramsey could be for Rangers and that’s your biggest concern.

It’s not really about our pay model or whether Charlie McCann takes the hump is itπŸ˜‚
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nah that’s fair. Hey he’s a brilliant signing if he stays fit for long enough. And right out of left field too.

Last word on the money front from me is that I could never believe a word regarding Rangers finances when it comes from the club and why the need to issue a statement when a huge proportion of your fans want money spent? It’s not like they cared before

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think they made direct reference to the wages because every single person was asking how the fook can they afford Ramsey?

It genuinely seems Juve are paying the vast vast majority of his wages just to get him playing again and get him in the shop window with a view to offloading £20m of wages from next seasons budget.

We are challenging for a title, we have a glamour tie in Europe coming up etc. It might seem a genuinely more enticing proposition than a relegation battle with Burnley for everyone concerned.

Plus it lets the rest of the players know that whilst Ramsey is still on superstar wages it isnt Rangers that are paying them.

Must admit to being gutted Ramsay has joined Rangers but I take my hat off to them for getting this deal done. It's a major coup for Rangers getting a player of this quality in. My hope is that he's not the player he used to be and spends more time on the treatment table than on the pitch but that's maybe wishful thinking. You've got to ask why would he settle for the SPFL when surely teams in the top 8 of the Premiership would love to have him? Anyway, great for the profile of our game with guys like him and Hart willing to join.

I read somehwere no idea if true or not that ramsay has a clause in his contract that says if he plays for them this year his contract gets extended another year, and due to his wages Juve want rid and loaning him out stops that year extension kicking in?

Biggest profile signing since Bellamy? Don't remember that one ending well tbh.

I predict he will forge a great relationship with key players roofe and Jack. In the treatment room. I honestly doubt he will play any games

I think that’s it.

Why join Rangers when he had a number of EPL clubs chasing him? No offence btw.

Did he have a former relationship with GVB or some other connection?

Wilshere’s contract at Arsenal wasn’t extended by Arsenal, while Ramsey turned down the Arsenal contract extension to join one of the biggest clubs in the world on one of the biggest salary’s in the world.

So aye a similarity in that they both played for Arsenal

As long as he’s not the new Niko Kranjcar I’m sure he’ll be an outstanding signing.

Ramsey didn’t turn down any Arsenal contract, it was infamously withdrawn when Ramsey looked set to sign, definitely one of our better bits of business over the last few years. Ramsey is awful, unfortunately. One of his main strengths was his running and stamina but injuries have ruined that.

Because of that, he doesn’t really have a position on the pitch. If you play him CM, he won’t make those late runs into the box, instead he’ll just vacate the midfield and wait in the box. Play him further forward as a 10 or supporting forwards and he puts no defensive shift in at all.

Then there’s the problem that he’s always injured.

He’s basically just a luxury player which is probably why he’s chosen Rangers who can afford to carry him in such a mediocre league.

Steady on chap.

He’s on loan for 6 months. And the season ends in 3. Not sure how that works out but hey ho.

Unless Rangers find the extraordinary sums of money to pay him anything remotely close to what he was earning then that’s all it will be.

Huge punt for the club.

A lot can change in just a few months. Even after tonight people will be calling the league one way or another.

We won't be getting him beyond the loan deal and I did put in the caveat about him being the next Kranjcar, but if he does manage to play a fair amount of games I think he'll make a huge difference.
