That is more or less as I feel, although I think the break to warmer climate and a drop in intensity will benefit us and I think it was much needed for a very tired looking squad.

Agree 100% Brummie, and actually believe this works against us, as the South Americans have this as the pinnacle of their season.

And honestly, if I could find good odds on Palmeiras somewhere I would put some money on them as we have been awful recently.

We should win it Biggish, although the Brazilians should be harder to beat, but if we do and having overcome a team I've never heard of, to get into a 'Final' after one game, it won't feel much more of an achievement than some of those pre-season friendly tournaments we play in out the Far East.

I get the South Americans taking it seriously as they want to prove themselves against the best teams in Europe to try and show they're up there with us but I don't get what prestige European teams gain from it!

Yeah, we started well against that Saudi Team the other day and should have been comfortable but let them back into it in the last 20 minutes.

I'd much prefer we used loads of the academy lads for this and rested as much of the 1st team squad as possible for the next league game!

Upgrade from the Audi Cup Spurs and Arsenal play in for me
Nice pot...but really no biggie

A bit like the League Cup it’s enjoyable when you win it but no one else is really bothered about it.

The CL winner should be winning this easily. I’d imagine that other than the South American offering that none of the other sides would even be PL standard.

I can even remember us winning it in 09.

I have no recollection of us losing this to Corinthians in 2012

A trophy we've not won so it'd be nice to put that right.

But yeah pre season feel to it and our lot on holiday judging by the performance in the semi

I'm very eager for us to win this and I think it's an important trophy, especially as we've never won it before. We'll be playing the South American Champions so there's plenty of prestige to it. Most importantly I think that winning this trophy would propel the team and could reignite the spark we've been lacking over winter.

We had Rafa in charge at the time so I remember quite a few of us not being bothered that we lost that Final as the feeling between fans and Rafa was very unhealthy.

Aww, chill out Harle , I said I'll be watching it and hope we win it, as I hope the Academy lads win all their games and girls win theirs - just I'd much rather have seen us testing ourselves against Le Ar$e this afternoon and competing for three points that will actually have a bearing on our main focus of the season!

Well I watched it here (Brazil) lunch timeish if I remember which would have made it mid-afternoon in the UK. But yeh that was though a case of very bad luck - we literally had 100 chances and that was the best their keeper has ever played and they scored in typical CFC style with their ONLY half chance. Unfortunately, I think today won't go half as well and honestly based on the previous form of both clubs this is lining up to be a torrid game and I predict Chelseas recent form to continue so honestly expect us to have 70% possession, do absolutely nothing with it, look like amateurs in front of goal and lose by 1 or 2 goals ala West Ham by quick counters against the general run of play.

Yeah will be a tough game, we're playing the best club side in South America so they must be good.

Brazilian League is probably the toughest in SA, and I would say on par with the Championship in regards to quality. On paper we should win comfortably.........but since its us, and our current form

In my mind it's the most important game of the season. The cup we don't have. Sure, it's s bit Mickey Mouse, but to get there isn't.

Then your mind is addled in pickling solution
