Not a remake - more a reimagining, based on a fan made trailer from a few years ago that Will Smith saw and liked.
The original FPOBA is one of the all-time greatest sitcoms, suppose I'll eventually get around to watching the new dramatised version.

Haven't watched but read the story of the fan made remake that Will Smith saw and liked, so he made the programme with the fan that uploaded the video. Pretty cool story.
The fan made video is on the link below as well, personally I think it's better than the actual trailer!

So it's like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air if it were made by David Lynch?
I watched the first episode and thought it was decent. I like the concept of taking a comedy and turning it into a drama. As someone said, the original did get serious sometimes (racist cop for example).
There are a lot of nostalgic nods to the original. Jazz (now the taxi driver who picked up Will from the airport) has dice hanging from his mirror, for example. Hasn't been physically thrown out of the house yet though. Shame Carlton doesn't do his famous dance as well.
If you want the story as a comedy, rewatch the original series. If you want a retelling of the same premise, watch this. And then rematch the original as it is top class
I’ve watched the first 2 episodes and surprisingly it’s been really good so far.
Also, I don’t think Carlton’s character is all that different to the OG Carlton. Except he sniffs Xanax instead of dancing in the remake.

And best episode? Obviously when Will loses money to the pool hustlers and Uncle Phill hustles them back and wins all the monies

Grate episode. Probably my favorite too
