Abramovich is also a Portuguese citizen, so maybe this could have been a move by him to prevent seizure of assets in this kind of eventuality?

Putin is a total nut job. I saw his speech yesterday and was the ravings of an utter lunatic. Shame covid doesnt just do us all a favour and wipe him out.

Need to really destroy the russian economy so his own people turn against him. Thats the only way to make him take notice

Sanctions just like the ‘sanctions’ after they poisoned our citizens in Salisbury. Do me a favour. Most of boris and his mates fortunes are topped up by Russians

There will be minimal sanctions. Just enough to please daily mail readers, but not to make any real difference

Wow, you really need to take those blinkers off mate. You think the UK Govt. will, with its allies, impose soft sanctions as a token

I think Smeg may have a point. The Tory Party will be reluctant to really take Russian money out of the economy, with the state it is in. They should have sorted this laundered money out years back, but they didn`t. They may be forced into it now, but I would not put my house on it.

The Russians have been infiltrating our politics and trying to destabilise the west for years in preparation for this kind of thing. They evidently don't believe there will be many repercussions for this.

What has my obvious distain for the Tories got to do with facts. Like the Tory Party are happy to take lots of laundered Russian money to fund their party.

You need to stop with the rhetoric mate, and look at the facts. The Russians are practically propping up the Tories with donations. Nothing at all to do with me not liking the Tories.

Your club could be in trouble as well with Usmanov laundering his dirty money through your club.

Not scoring points, just pointing out that certain football clubs will be in big trouble if the sanctions go ahead. I don`t make up the rules, and I won`t be bringing in the sanctions.

Slightly different Hounslow to a club being funded by laundered money. All politicians probably have the odd indiscretion, but some are worse than others. Tories are well know for it.

Russian money and assets have been interfering with western politics for years..

Tbf it would be quite funny (as funny as it could be given the situation) if that happens and you still find a way to get battered by both again.

Hypothetically Abramovich could asset strip the club to recoup his loans, however he is likelier to make back his money by selling the club as it is rather than as an asset stripped shell.
