Pogba , Rashford and Shaw

I was struggling for any good performances from the lads that started.

Ronaldo, Rashford, Bruno n Pogba were dreadful. Bruno obviously redeems himself a little bit with the assist but it wasnt a good night for him either.

Shaw has been a shambles all season. Such a massive drop off from last season.

Fred was probably our best player of the ones who started and he wasn't even that good.

It is sad that you don’t understand football.

Pogba had two or three men on him every time he touched the ball. That was down to Ralf and our shape where we had two midfielders to their five.

Rashford was poor.

Shaw was ok. None of their chances were down to him

He's been here for years and he's only had a handful of good performances.

he's played 6 matches since returning from injury and already had a handful of good performances.

utter nonsense as always with this player, one poor game and the usual knives are out.

Relative to what you consider a good performance.

As it goes the whole team just looked like they couldn't be bothered. For a good chunk of the game.

Champions league knockout game as well. Sad really.

The chairman of his fan club has arrived. He won't have anything bad said about his golden boy because he played well against Leeds Burnley and Middlesbrough.

First good team we meet since his return and he's back to being his usual self.

The team improved after he went off. We actually got a bit of a grip of the game. Says it all.

Absolutely spot on. Some of these people are more concerned with coming out with excuses about Pogba than about how the team are doing

oh f@ck off you self-righteous pr!ck. i'm more than happy to criticise him for a poor performance, but what i won't do is wait for him to play badly so that i can gleefully shout "told you, told you all", nor will i lie and say that this is his "usual self"/"handful of good games in 5 years" just because i have a huge chip on my shoulder.

No you don't. You support him and make excuses every single time.

He's a talented lad with so many flaws it's scary. All you have to do is close him down quickly and he's completely anonymous. A total and utter bottle job and a luxury we can't afford to accommodate.

If you want to give him 400k a week then it's you my friend who is clueless.

How in the feck are you excluding Bruno? He was awful AGAIN.

An assist doesn’t excuse 93 minutes and 59 seconds of utter shiiiiiiiiiiiiit

Another game where we desperately struggled due to lack of DMs. Matic is a shadow of his former self but gives glimpses of the kind of structure and progression that's possible. Actually, I think we slightly missed McT today. He's not a great player and not really a DM but he's been first choice in that position all season.

Rashy told Elanga get his head up and Elanga took his spot at the club

What we should of done is buy a really good cdm when we bought matic.

Instead we bought matic.

I can't actually believe the guy is still playing for us.

….

It doesn’t actually. We got a better grip of the game before he went off.

But let’s go with the changes. Matic playing where Fred was. That was a game change for sure. Lindelof who is slower than Dalot, coming off for AWB was a good change and of course Elanga coming on for Rashford.

The other major factor at play was that Atletico had pretty much ran themselves into the ground in the first half. They covered 5km more than we did.

They could be bothered to play.

It speaks volumes that we bought one of the best centre backs in the world, in his prime, and put him in our defence behind our midfield and he has not really performed.

posted on 23/2/22

Yeah, this aint prime Varane is it. That's why they sold him.

Actually a half decent result, Atletico gave us a game at their place and were mince over here. I reckon you'll go through.

Well, he is ain't getting, given his age.

I think Varane has been good when fit. He was dodgy on the ball first half but defensively solid all night.

We’ve conceded 16 in the 18 games that Varane has started in.

We were not bad at all defence wise for once. You have to hold your hand up and say that there was not much they could have done with the goal.

Dave didn’t have a sit to save.

A strange match all things considered. I think what it did show is that we need to be playing three in midfield against the better sides. A three that can keep the ball not give it away cheaply like we did so often tonight.

The dynamic of the second leg will be interesting. Because we've drawn in Spain the expectation will be that we'll go through. That'll bring its own pressure.

posted on 24/2/22

Fernandes and Pogba should be ashamed of their performances last night. It's like they were having a contest on who could give away the ball more often and they're supposed to be our playmakers.

Rashford simply is and never was as good as we thought he was. To be fair though, I do feel he put in a bit more effort tracking back last night.

Shaw clearly doesn't even want to be a footballer.
