if you look at the profit/loss figures. ignore the whole net spend argument.
20/21 -4.8mil
19/20 -46 mil
18/19 +42mil (despite massive coutinho induced spend of 233mil)
17/18 +125mil
16/17 +39mil
15/16 -19.8mil
14/15 +60mil
13/14 +0.9mil
12/13 -49.8mil
As the time has passed LFC have grown the revenues and invested over time.
We have ridden out the worst financial 2 years in English football since wwii and come out the other side in a sustainable manner.
AND somehow have quite a decent squad. so if chelsea fan (their club admits they are utterly dependant of the russian debt forgiveness technique) or Spurs fans with massive and increasing debts want to have a go they can have a go and looks stupid.
Our club as a whole have done the business to compete.
not to spend doping levels of money like city and cheslea. not to spend profligately for political games like man utd. No we've bought well from up and coming but not top tier names and made stars out of them and won a few things.
Konate, diaz, jota. just the odd buy here and there but with nobody leaving that we don't want leaving (lovren the last one to actually go) suddenly we have a squad... lesser lights doing a shift like tsimikas and kellehr helps us hugely.
and even mini-me helps a little in cups.
Elliott and jones also help us big time as does guys grabbing chances like morton.
We will be losing a few this summer imo so it will be interesting to see what happens next.
I heard one of the pundits the other day saying that Klopp hasn’t won enough given his time at the club.
Also seen it pop up a bit on social media.
Weird how they’ve forgotten the calibre of the squad he took over. It was average.
The first few years are building and refining. He’s been quite unfortunate not to have won more as well. Lost a shootout to City in 2016, lost the PL by a point, lost a CL when his own GK threw the ball at Benzema’s backside.
Klopp’s mission was to restore Liverpool back to a team that can challenge for the games top prizes and pick up silverware. He’s undoubtedly achieved that.
Outstanding what he's done really. Up there with what he did with Dortmund really.
The way he's turned the squad around into a real group of champions is arguably the most impressive part.
