Such an utter caaant
He left Russia on the verge of bankruptcy but hey don't let that stop you from your narrative!
Making a hero out of an opportunist thief!
Bankrolls Putin in one hand and gives to Ukraine charity.
Bullet in one hand and flowers in the other.
I'm kinda in awe of how Chelsea have gone from near bankrupt to finessing 1.5b from their owner π
I've no doubt he loved his club but I don't think he purchased Chelsea through his love of the club at all.
He had several teams he was interested in but Chelsea was the perfect opportunity to buy a club with good groundwork for success (they already had some before) and elevate himself to a safer, more public profile.

He bought the club through his love of football, not Chelsea. But it is clear once he financially invested in Chelsea he then emotionally invested in Chelsea and very quickly fell in love with the club. And still loves the club.
I’m still none the wiser on it (especially not as clued up as more spurs who has access to Romans private documents), but as a football owner he’s been phenomenal. I wonder if we will ever find out if he gets sanctioned and why and his links, if any to putin, but what a gesture for the money to go to people affected by the war

No doubt. He might not have even become a Chelsea fan along the way, but he treated the club with the care as if he was a fan.
Purely through the prospective of being a football owner we might not see someone like him again for a while tbh. 1.5b in without a string attached. That's incredible.
London is open to Russian oligarchs.
Buying Chelsea made him the most famous amongst his limted social circle.

If I invested a billion in anything it'd be close to my heart π I've no doubt what u say is true but the proximate cause of him buying a club was staying alive.
When Whelan talked about how he moved and his security u can see he lives a totally different life to everyone bar a handful of Russian billionaires.
He loves Chelsea now but it was always a means to make sure he couldn't just go missing.
Bottling it as he can’t compete with liverpool.

Obvious to any real CFC fan Biggish. His tenure and control of the club, has been nothing short of textbook and above board from a long term fans perspective. I will not comment or judge on his life outside of football, but from a Chelsea point of view, it is a sad day indeed. His statement struck me as heart-felt and honest.

It's game over now folks welcome to the Chelsea of old scrapping for top 4 and winning the odd Fa Cup here and there the good old Jesper Gronjaer days
Obviously, Putin comes before Chelsea.
He is looking to cash in before his Tory buddies cave into the pressure and rightly apply sanctions against him.
