Whatever happened to reasoned debate?
Welcome to ja606 new user. Although you are correct

you'd think I'd be used to this by now. I've been on this site since it moved from BBC 606. Essentially its birth.
Chelsea are now demanding that their game at Middlesbrough is played behind closed doors!! The shame of that club knows no limits. Boro would lose a fortune if it gets allowed and the integrity would be gone.
Tainted Chelsea.

Trying to force a game BCD so the home fans can’t rightfully be the 12th man for Boro. They’d gain an immediate advantage as the Chelsea players are better.

I have only posted the above BBC report to highlight some peoples denial that Abramovich has not done anything illegal to amass his fortune.
Reports today have said he has fled Israel to avoid his aircraft & one of his yachts being seized.
The purpose of my original post was in regard to what happens to the staff and why should the supporters be punished for something outside of their control. However much proof some people are given, they will still find a reason to carry on defending Abramovich.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think any of us would have denied that his wealth was gathered via shady avenues but the original point of your article was that it was wrong for Chelsea fans to sing his name in light of events in Ukraine. Whether there were dodgy deals and corrupt things going on at the point at which he made his money is completely irrelevant. Is he responsible for the war in Ukraine. No he's not. So why can't Chelsea fans thank him? That's the only part to focus on. The rest is semantics.
It seems to me that both yourself and Sandy are shifting the narrative a little to suit your agenda. Yes, he was corrupt. Yes, he shouldn't really have been allowed to buy Chelsea in the first place (amongst many other owners whose financial muscle has been built just as questionably I'm sure) but Roman Abramovich did not start this war, is not orchestrating this war, and beyond any measure, doesn't want this war.
This is on Putin. No one else. It's just guilt by association. There's so much grey area in all of this but we live in an age where everyone just wants black and white. It's so polarised. Whatever happened to reasoned debate?

That's why it is funny when people say we won't compete without extra money from Roman.
Now we are a mega club (thanks to Roman and Jose) we generate enough revenue to be sustainable
----------------------------------------------------------------------
According to reports CFC has a wage bill of £28m a month, their current finances indicate that after the end of this months payments they will not have enough money to run the club, which then means they will be insolvent.
This then turns into administration and an inevitable 9 points deduction, which could be more if this scenario continues for longer.

Actually you are wrong:
But with its stars costing almost £28million ($37m) a month in wages, and the most recent accounts showing reserves of £16million, the club would burn through that cash in 17 days because they are now banned from raising any funds from tickets and merchandise, worth at least £600,000 per match day alone.
I haven’t changed the narrative, I have however responded to posters who continue to ignore facts surrounding Abramovich & how he acquired his money.
I still question why the club cannot be allowed to carry out normal trading whilst looking for a new buyer. This could be done by imposing strict oversight on what money is spent and under the condition that no money goes to Abramovich or to any organisation outside of the U.K.

Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson told the Athletic
: "Chelsea and sporting integrity do not belong in the same sentence.
"Where is the intellect of Bruce Buck, the chairman of Chelsea, who has been an apologist for his owner, where the trophies won over 19 years have come from the corrupt money provided by Abramovich?" Gibson added.
"Where is the intellect of the chairman of Chelsea when it comes to playing his games at home in front of his season-ticket holders? Does he want to play all his away games at empty stadiums?
"Abramovich has been kicked out of football and Bruce Buck should be kicked out of football too."

There is simply no justification for singing RA name. I don't care how guilty or not guilty he is in regards to the Ukraine war. The question is why would anyone choose to sing his names ahead of singing a supportive song for the victims of the war?
