They’re having a pretty poor run in.

And they haven't even got to the more difficult games on paper yet

I'm afraid a team named Manchester United is going to sneak into fourth place. Then they will fire their manager and Arsenal will keep Arteta.

Losing to Brighton was fatal imo.

Fa cking usual boll ox from the usual suspects. Last minute winner etc

What gets me is that players like Kane will demand a move when they have failed to get cl.

Sounds mad but Doherty injury has completely unbalanced us. I’ve said it for months, conte’s system relies entirely on wingbacks for creativity. We don’t have any.

I think the pressure is on both teams and neither really have the minerals for it.

I don’t know much about Arsenal, but I know Spurs and we would usually fall apart now - starting with a draw at Brentford. Over to you Antonio, time to earn your money and show that you are a top manager.

Also, lots of those Spurs players have been in this position before so none of this “We need to learn” bollox - we finished 3rd in a two horse title race not long ago, learn from that you cants

Crazy result and really makes the Brighton defeat even worse than it was

I’m not into these conspiracy theories about Chelsea throwing it but they wouldn’t go that weak and with that lack of effort against us that’s for sure

They were pathetic

So, after last night's "the worst possible outcome" game, we have, in the space of four days, gone from what I and a lot of you guys thought would be a 6 point gap to 5th, are now level on points with 5th.

How many times have we seen this before. You know third in a two horse race and all that.

My worry is, as per usual, things will now consistently go against us, and in favour of them through each set of fixtures.

Really not wishing to be negative, but seen this pan out so many times. For example, look at our fixtures and think of the importance of timing. Our next two games are against two of the current "in form" teams based on points gained. Brentford and Leicester. We know we have a pointless game against Liverpool, and we end with two games against teams who wil be relegated, and therefore can play with a freedom.

On the other side of the coin. They have Utd next at a time when they could not be any worse. They have just played Chelsea who have never put in a performance like that in the last 30 years of playing us, resulting in only one loss to us in a cup game a few years ago. Yet here they are, falling apart for a very average Arsenal team, just at the right time for Arsenal.

Sorry guys, but I just visualise the same set of circumstances each week until the end of the season, including a NLD that, because it is now even more important, will result in "one of those" Spurs performances, combined with them getting every break during the game.

Sorry guys, but I am just sick of things going other team's way each year, and have a feeling this year wil go the same way.

It doesn’t go other teams way each year. We f a ck it up each year. If we had appointed conte in the summer and bought players for his system then, we would be miles ahead of fourth imo.

Instead we went cheap, appointed nuno, bought players like Emerson for him, then sacked him and hired conte who has done his best with nunos squad, then didn’t address key issues in January (wingbacks) and now we will probably lose fourth, lose Kane and conte and be back where we were this time last year.

THAT is why it always feels like it goes other clubs ways. Those other clubs have a clear strategy. Spurs have a ‘see what’s inthe bargain bucket and hope it works’ strategy.

Levy is not a good business man.

If I was conte now, I would play sess on the left and one of stevie b or Lucas on the right.

We have no chance of fourth with Emerson and reggie is awful at the moment

While last nights result was certainly a surprise, I myself certainly wouldn't have put it past Arsenal to win there. It's that sort of season where strange results like that are happening.

But I do think that we all need to take a breather and realise that we are still in a good position, one which we should be seeing through to grab fourth.

Go back four games ago and look at the fixtures for both:

Spurs - West Ham (H), Newcastle (H), Villa (A), Brighton (H)

Arsenal - Palace (A), Brighton (H), Southampton (A), Chelsea (H)

Pretty sure no one would have expected us to get 9 points and Arsenal to only get 3, which is a fact, never mind who they came against.

So anything can happen. We just need to focus on ourselves. Should be looking to beat Brentford, Leicester will hopefully be focusing on Roma, Burnley and Norwich. Anything at Anfield would be a bonus, and obviously we can't lose the NLD. But what a massive opportunity that game is for us, at home, under the lights. I think our big players will step up.

i wouldnt be surprised if we end up needing something at anfield AND having to win the NLD...

arsenal will roll united over on saturday, and they play west ham in between their semi final.. and west ham wont be doing us any favours at all.

what could possibly give you confidence that this will happen? i mean, it might, but they could just as easily flop like they love doing in london derbies.

Put it this way - if we had the NLD to play away, I would be so much less confident than I am as it actually is, having it at home. Arsenal are in this situation - Conte and the players will know how key this game is.
