I'd settle for putting him in a prison cell in which the television news informs him on a daily basis of the democratisation of Russia, re-establishment of rule of law, free speech and human rights, a clamp-down on corruption, and a profound moral shock as the crimes and lies of his regime are exposed, resulting in a cultural transformation of the country to reject ethno-nationalism and chauvinism. He lives to see a Ukrainian-born lesbian elected as president and enjoy popular support.

I'm torn on whether this living purgatory would involve the prison being an enlightened Scandinavian one where there is zero tolerance of transphobia, etc., or an old-school scenario where he gets asked to pick up the soap.

It is interesting that you have noticed this. It is quite complex but also quite simple. It is often no coincidence that those with the most money are the biggest arrseholes, this is often down to the fact that to acquire the most money, it requires being an arrsehole. Good people tend to value other things in life more than money, such as caring and helping others. These people tend to end up in lower paid jobs, but it's not the money that is important to them, it is making a difference. It is complex, but also simple. But also complex. Money doesn't make you an arrsehole, but arrseholes make money.

If you believe in heaven and hell then you believe in God and the Devil.

Faith is a subject not worth falling out over. Nobody knows so nobody can win the argument. (there is more evidence for science imo but that is just my experience).

My take on this subject is that if you believe in God, he exists. If you dont, he doesnt.

Also I imagine hell is full of whores, strippers and cocaine which seems like a much better way to spend all of eternity than with a load of priests in heaven.
