Can someone explain to me what the purpose is for the teams in P1 P2 and P3 ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They’re practices
They’re used to test the tyre compounds, long runs high fuel race sims, low fuel quali sims, different wings, etc…
They’re 3 sessions for teams to play about with their cars to set them up perfect for qualifying & the race

Cheers, I got that much, but what is tested/practiced in each session?
P1 - general testing
P2 - race settings
P3 - quali settings
?

How you mean? You talking about Practice?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, like what is each practice session used for?
they need to test race settings and quali settings, so is there a particular strategy over each P session?
https://youtu.be/tknXRyUEJtU
Yup Practice, that’s what that’s about.

I’ve never really gone into it, I just figure it’s to test, and get familiar with the track. Then Strategies are devised, depending on the shape of the car, tyres etc.

apparently there's been a missile attack near the track?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
a bit misleading headline .... 4 days ago i think it was?
something like a hostile air target was destroyed close to Jeddah.... dont think it as confirmed ? it was a saudi coalition that said it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What happened today was an explosion at an oil refinery.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Actually it was a rocket strike. Damn
This is mental. A missile strike! Er.. that's not normal.
How can you assure safety?
'They went after are oil, its a local problem, everything will be fine.'
I wonder if Lewis is heading to the Airport right now
I think… although it can vary
FP1 - get used to the track
FP2 - long runs to sim race with different trims
FP3 - short runs in qualifying trim
I don’t pay too much attention to it but it does give you a rough idea on who’s where with the car
P1 and 3 both earlier in the day. P2 is closer to race conditions (temp)
I agree with the above in regards to what they aim for in each of the 3 sessions.
Teams had a meeting whether or not to decide not to race, but they decided to continue based on information received:
"Part of this information involved the possible consequences of not racing, such as how easily teams and drivers would be able to leave the country if the race did not happen."
Well, that's not extremely sinister or anything. Race or else you won't get out.
Let's hope they get out safely then never return to this Stone Age society.

I heard the F1 decided to race because the Saudis told them its safe and the circuit was secure. How ffs? How do you secure something against missile attacks? Air defence is not 100%. Unreal.

Totally agree. So they blow up an oil refinery.
But it’s nothing to be concerned about.
And can be assured they will leave multiple millionaires and billionaires alone, so they can go racing cars on the weekend. Sure.
I believe you.
F2 action. Yellow flag on lap 2 of the sprint.
Amazing the gp is still going ahead
Bonkers. Have you ever heard anything like it.
A missile strike. Not an accident. A lone wolf.
A friggin missile strike!!
God forbid anything happens, cos the fallout would be incredible. Money… all it is.
I haven’t felt this bad for a group of sportsmen, since maybe the Brazil team in ‘98 being forced by Nike.
This is next level madness.
I was trying to research whether a sports team had ever been held captive in a hosting nation…

Yes it’s “wrestling” but the event was in…… Saudi Arabia and a plane was prevented from leaving
McMahon must’ve paid up cos they have been back since… strange story though.
Ridiculous and again yes all about the money, f1 don't give a 2 sheets about driver safety
Gasley conks out in the pit lane exit tunnel
More Red Bill reliability woes?
no.. they seem fine.
what the gassy gone 3rd quickest now! eh!
its looking like Max is gonna destroy the field tomorrow.
