He's very good. On the other hand though, is it not fair to say that he's not playing against the same level of striker that the likes of Vidic, Adams, Terry, Ferdinand and so on played against?

Out of all time EPL great strikers he's faced Kane + Aguero.

The list above had to deal with the likes of Shearer, Drogba, Henry, Hasselbaink, Torres, Anelka, Cole, Yorke, RVN, Owen, Rooney, Bergkamp, Fowler etc

Vidic is probably in my pl all time 11 with Terry. Would never work acfually together but as far as the best two cbs I’ve seen it’s them.

I think John Terry and the whole chelsea defence in 04/05 will never be beaten. And that was in quite an attacking team who just couldn’t finish their dinner. Robben, duff, gudjohsen, Cole, Lampard.

Not true.

Current strikers are better than past strikers. They just don't look as good because they are coming up against all time great defenders like VVD.

Obviously if your young you won’t remember but we played very attacking football that year, just missed a lot of chances. Chelsea under jose got progressively more defensive as time went by. We beat Barca 4-2 in one of the actual games we took our chances. Mind you an injury to robben also hurt. But yeah, one of the hugest myths, and even been discussed on here before, is that side were defensive when Jose first came,

Think it’s one of those things where because a team was so good defensively people downplay them being good attacking,

Similar to when people say Trent can’t defend just because he’s better offensively

The fact you think Vidic and Terry are better than VVD is the funny bit. We’re talking individual ability here not effectiveness of defensive units.

I was also mocking your constant use of ‘lol’, for which you should be publicly flogged.

Terry was very good with the ball and was surprisingly two footed.

Vidic being overrated here.

Most people consider John Terry the best pl cb ever so not all that funny. In fact he’s won multiple polls despite being universally hated.

Terry I’ll admit is subjective, as a Chelsea fan I understand why you would have him up there. Personally I think VVD is the better all round player, but you can’t argue with the influence Terry had on Chelsea.

It’s a shame he had to do the full kit thing and shaft his teammates wives, as it’s things like this that detract from his on field achievements.

Always thought he was solid but clumsy

Had moments of magic in him but nowhere near a consistent class defender to be talked about with other defenders on this thread
