Apparently Radio Derby has said Kirchner will be announced PB. My own contact has no information but has previously signed NDAs around bids for DCFC so that's not surprising.

Interesting Vidal. Whatever happens it needs doing soon...

If he's so interested in buying Derby why was he trying to buy Preston last week?

The man is a wrong un, I'd rather have Ashley.

Such a smart move taking a 15 point deduction when we're not yet relegated and Paul Ince is still Reading manager, WTF?

I agree VC but a drowning man can't be too fussy about the nature of the man who chucks him a lifejacket. Maybe this is an attempt to flush out Ashley and get him to up his bid. Maybe Kirchner's supposed interest in Preston was an attempt to force the administrators' hand.

Let's fact it, we have no effing clue and can only guess.

Fact indeed

Not happy with this.
Why do I get the feeling that we just chucked the towel in, after all the fight and effort from Wayne and the lads.

The bit about 15 points being deducted this season doesn't seem all that likely, but let's pretend that there was a choice of having them deducted this season or next season and that the choice has to be made right now. Which would we prefer?

If getting Kirchner as owner meant that Rooney would be staying that would be a huge plus in my opinion. I don't know if that would be the case or not - I guess we will find out soon, assuming this story is true.

Whilst there's a chance.of survival, next year.

Exactly. I just can't see a relationship between Ashley and Rooney. For all of Ashley's business acumen he is at the heart of it an absolute toe rag.

This feels very odd, given as pointed above, Kirchner moved on to PNE.

On a personal note I'd much prefer any further penalties next season, if hit with a further 15 points it all becomes a 'What was the point of going through all that?'

I agree though of course it pains me. This season has been a wonderful one in so many ways, despite the ever-present feeling of impending doom. I have been so proud of the management, the players and the fans. But I feel that relegation is almost certain now. If we were able to defer the points deduction and were formally relegated in a couple of weeks we would be feeling a bit daft for not having taken the hit. We would in all likelihood be ruling out the chance of promotion next season from league 1.

But I don't think we get to choose anyway. It's up to the EFL so you would think they will do whatever is most punitive. Probably they will wait. If we are relegated they will apply it next season. If by a miracle we survive they will apply it this season.

The EFL isn't going to deduct 15 points this season unless we survive, as it wouldn't be a meaningful punishment.

It seems unlikely anyway, but it would mean our season became not about fighting for survival, but fighting to avoid a -15 penalty next season.

I'm still bemused about how Quantuma appeared to roll over and have their tummy tickled to accept the additional -9 point deduction (with NO appeal).

Other peoples money I guess (and to their advantage)?

The EFL will probably introduce a new rule next season that automatically hand-out a points deduction to any team in L1/L2 which has a stadium of over 30,000 seats and is located in Derbyshire?

Good job we don't own the stadium then!

“The 34 year-old attended Butler University in Indianapolis to study ‘International Marketing’ before attending the University of Kentucky to take a ‘Communications and Minor Marketing’ degree. After that, he went on to found his own business, Kirchner Entertainment, in 2009, before becoming the ‘Director of Marketing and Sales’ at Turner Labels.

After a year, he became Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing at the company, to develop a growth strategy, expand sales globally and manage the sales team. In March 2017, he founded another business, Slync.io and also became the CEO.

Slync.io ‘serves’ the world's largest freight forwarders, shippers and offers service providers with six continents. The following year, he became the chairman of the San Francisco based company.

Slync.io has generated $4.7m in revenue so far this year, while also raising $76m in funding.”

https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/derby-preferred-bidder-chris-kirchner-6112059

“Slync.io, a shipping and logistics process automation company, today announced it has closed a $60 million series B funding round. The company says it will leverage the investment to continue serving its customers, grow its physical presence in Europe and Asia, and expand its core teams.”

https://venturebeat.com/2021/02/04/slync-io-raises-60-million-to-automate-supply-chain-processes/

So – he has founded a company that has managed to generate $4.7m in ‘revenues’ (which is, essentially, eff all) but that company has also raised $76m (or $60million?!) from third parties “to leverage the investment”. I am sure those ‘third party investors’ will be delighted for the $76m (or $60m) being used for the purchase of a UK football club.

Something doesn’t seem quite right here. It an expensive business owning and running a football club (as MM has found out) and, on the face of it, it doesn’t look as though this CK has the business track record and/or personal wealth that will be required. Could be wrong tho and CK's dad may be super minted enough to sort it all out.

Good luck guys!

You might try Googling your owner owner, sph, if you are looking for something that "doesn't seem quite right here". But thanks for your interest.

Generally football clubs lose money (with the odd exception). You therefore have to question why anyone sane would buy one?
