Reading that the football league started on this day in 1888. 12 teams and all of them from the midlands and north west. From the midlands were Wolves, Albion, Villa, Derby, Stoke and Notts County. From the North West were Accrington, Burnley, Bolton, Blackburn, Everton, Preston.
Wolves played in red and white striped shirts and black shorts in those days.
We should never have allowed those teams from Manchester and London to join the league
European places slightly clearer:
"Chelsea's FA Cup semi-final victory yesterday means that seventh-place in the Premier League will be enough to gain a place in the Europa Conference League next season.
The only way that will not happen is if either West Ham - currently seventh - or Leicester - ninth - finish in that spot and win the European competition they have reached the semi-final of. That would give them automatic qualification to the group phase of the higher tournament next season - Champions League in West Ham's case, Europa League for Leicester.
In that instance, no English team would go into the Europa Conference League."
And what that means for Wolves is if we finish 8th or lower, we won’t go into Europe. If we finish 7th or higher, we definitely will
This makes interesting reading and maybe explains to some supporters, how difficult it is to get the right players:-

The U23's are at home to Newcastle today, hoping to secure a play off spot. We are currently 2nd.

So basically saying what every single club in the world has to deal with.
Heading to Hawaii Thursday for ten days so looks like i will be missing the next two games given the 11hr time difference. 3am and 4am kick offs respectively
So he's saying there's players he likes but they have several other suitors and it's hard to get the deal over the line because he can't convince them to live in Wolverhampton?

Ha, yeah, in one part he does almost seem to suggest they like living in nice cities and it is hard to convince them Wolverhampton is one
If we can attract the likes of Sa, Semedo, Jonny, Neves, Moutinho, Jimenez, Neto that’s fine by me. Just more of the same will do nicely
He added: "When you can see there’s eight, nine, 10 teams that dominate the game in the last 10 years. They have good stadiums, good academies, nice towns to live, big investment and they are fighting for competitions.
"It’s hard when a team comes, like Newcastle, or another team to find the right players and to convince them in just one year to change everything.
"A player’s career is short, they play 10 or 12 years, and the best players in the moment are in these 10 teams. You can have the money, but it’s hard to convince them to move from that team, or that city, that club that are already fighting in the biggest competitions, to come and start a new project.
"It’s hard for us. We are now in a level where we need the right players to put us on a different level, at the right price. And also we need to convince them to come here. In the end we need to bring these players to live in Wolverhampton to work with us and help us to be better
Yup deffo saying its hard to sell the city as some are from nice towns, also gets in a comment about the stadium as well
Speaking of players living in nice places, I see Steve Bruce is playing hardball with 8 or 9 Albion players who commute to training each day. He has told them to move or get a second home closer to the ground if they want to remain at the club.
The number 2 keeper, David Button commutes from Brighton every day. I think it's fair to say that he's not too impressed with Sandwell then

If that's ok for players then why not for supporters ? Priority for tickets for those living, say, within 10 miles of the ground.
Sounds good to me.
Having moved to Amblecote I now live 8.4 miles from the Molineux
You're getting closer ganger I mean not Horden road close but a good deal closer
When my mom and dad got married they lived in lodgings in Hordern Road. Dad became friends with a young Wolves player in lodgings nextdoor but one.He was William Ambrose Wright.

That's a quality story
My dad's, dad used to live in Horden Road
U23s won 4-2 against Newcastle at Molineux last night. Two goals for Bueno and two for Cundle. Strong team put out by Wolves with Hoever returning from injury and Tito and Chiquinho also starting
Could be a whole new midfield for Wolves next season. Moutinho out of contract, Neves linked with a big money move and now Dendoncker linked with a move to Lazio.
Maybe that will open the door to MGW who scored again for the Blades yesterday. That’s 10 goals and 7 assists for him now this season
Its been a bit odd having a completely football free easter break but quite enjoyed it actually, weather helped as did the results of teams above us which means the season remains interesting for a bit longer. Hopefully Liverpool prevent Man U from gaining points tonight, but the team to catch is definitely West Ham, they have to play Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, Norwich & Brighton on top of their two Europa semis. You would have to say that they will be lucky to get more than 6/7 points from those games, so if we can beat Burnley, Brighton & Norwich and nick a point or two elsewhere we could yet catch them.
This Weekend looks crucial with regard to our hopes of qualifying for Europe.
Man Utd play away games at Liverpool tonight and Arsenal on Saturday. Lose those and they would be on 54 points from 34 games.
If West Ham lost at Chelsea on Sunday they would be on 52 points from 34 games.
If we could find a win at Burnley we would be on 52 points from 33 games.
Key team in the next couple of weeks become Arsenal. Their next three games are against Chelsea, Man Utd and West Ham. Three wins from them really opens the door for us. But then three defeats and they would be on 54 points from 34 games.
We’ve only got to finish above one of Man Utd, West Ham or Arsenal to get into Europe
Game one according to plan with Utd getting thrashed tonight. The added benefit being Wolves now have a better goal difference than Utd
Never thought I'd read that last line DJ
United were absolutely awful in the first half. Beter in the second half but still completely outclassed. It was 54 minutes before they had a shot at goal.
I was surprised too at the goal difference stats, only the top 4 in double figures for positive GD.
United look devoid of ideas, motivation and without Ronaldo belief. Talented players can take you so far but they dont really seem to be pulling in one direction under a temporary boss and talk of a re-build. Hardly surprising is it?
