Depends if we keep Ronaldo (and Pogba, i guess, though I think that ship's sailed).

Also, Beekers! coming back might ease the CM issue.

We 100% need a CB and a very good DM or holding CM. I'd like a RB, though I have this gut feeling that AWB might thrive under Ten Hag (based on nothing!). I proper #8 CM would be a dream.

So...

CB, RB, DM, CM

If Ronaldo goes... The FWD too
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Only allowed 4 incomings.

RB or CF?

Personally, I think we NEED a RB, DM, CM and a RW.

I think we have relatively competent players in the other positions but we desperately need to improve on those listed above.

Then next season start working through another 3-5 players to really get moving in the right direction.

Leaving us with just Ronaldo at CF

Here's a tip... when you ask a question and someone takes the time to reply... Don't get snippy if the answer doesn't perfectly fit your own views.

We could also have Rashy, Martial and arguably Bruno to play that FWD role.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Im not gettiing snippy.

None of those listed can play CF well enough.

For me it's 2 x CM, 1 x RB, 1 x RW.

With a proper DM I don't think our CBs would look as bad. If we could actually keep the ball for a decent period of time they also wouldn't come under as much pressure either.

For the striker position, as it stands, we'll have Ronaldo, Rashford, Martial and Bruno even can play there.

posted on 29/4/22

What's more important than anything though is getting in players who not only are good players but also suit the other players who remain in terms of the style we'll look to play.

Based on this season... None of our CBs/RBs/LBs/CMs and FWDs can play well enough, Ronaldo aside...

So we need 20+ players.

Midfield still the priority for me I'm afraid.

20 is u likwly, so we fix the most urgent.

We have been poor at the back and upfront.

Donny, Fred, McTom, Garner plus a quality addition would be OK.

A better functioning midfield would glue the whole team together. I really don't want to see a United performance again where one of the midfielders only completes his first pass in the second half in the 84th minute! That suggests to me he wasn't showing to help take the ball off the defence and wasn't creating the other way either. Tragic stuff.

Bring them into the frame by all means but we still need a good DM with some experience to go right into the first XI.

CM and fullbacks are the biggest issue we have. If we had a top midfield our CB's wouldn't be half the issue and if we had fullbacks who could actually cross a ball we'd score more too.

I reckon a million does it.

Get Raiola on the case, to atone for all his past sins (and then some). Seeing as he’s about to kick the bucket he might be in for a little redemption (and a 20% cut).

Look at our game last night.

If we had James, Jorginho, Kante and Mount I think we'd have won that game knowing we had Ronaldo there.

DDG

James
Lindelof
Varane
Telles

Jorginho
Kante

Mount
Bruno
Elanga

Ronaldo

That looks much better than what we put out. We'd keep it better too.

Nope. No way that a team that includes 7 of your players would beat us.

Let's be honest here, if we're putting together a team from that entire match, designed to play football the way we want to, then we're maybe taking Ronaldo, and that's it. And the "maybe" there is because while he is brilliant at taking those rare chances, he's also a good reason why they are so rare.

Nobody else on that pitch for you gave the impression they were able to play a team sport properly. Half-baked pressing, lazy running and tracking back. First job for your new manager is figuring out whether any of this current crop can have this attitude beaten out of them. Because there is no doubt that there is plenty of talent in your team, but these days talent without hardwork is only accepted when it has the output of a Messi. And those, as we know, are rare.

Telles and Dalot are good crossers of the ball.

The issue is the FB's have to cover.for our poor CB's

True, but like I say, everything won’t be sorted in one transfer window. And when you’re rebuilding a team you tend to start from the back and move forward.

I think one more season out of Ronaldo, with Rashford as back-up CF, Bruno can play as a false nine and I believe Elanga has played up front for the youth team [citation needed].

It also depends what we’re expecting from ten Hag next season, is it to absolutely hit the ground running, get back into the top four, win a cup, play great football straight away or will he be afforded some leeway to set everything up the way he needs and have a “rebuilding season” as it were?

I think it would considering how many chances James and Mount created last night. The point I'm making is that you had no one to finish them off. I'm certain Ronaldo does.

Concede fewer and score more is the current objective.

CB, DM, CM and CF does both.

Build the spine first for me.

CB, DM and CF as priorities. Then either CM or another CB.

If we're going with four, that is.
