It's over....we had it in our own hands....and Suprise suprise we bottled it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Arsenal were about about nine points ahead six weeks ago so did we really? People overusing bottled it really is boring
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Edbo, agreed. Arsenal apparently are the form team, having won their last three, and picked up nine points from six games, whereas Spurs are bottling it, and have picked up 10 points from six games.
Arsenal may sneak it on the back of Spurs having one poor result against Brighton, but they are not that great, so don`t be surprised if Spurs still pip them to 4th.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Neither Arsenal nor Tottenham would have expected to finish top 4 this season as Chelsea were seen as title contenders and United having recruited Sancho, Varane and Ronaldo would have been expecting to finish top 4 as a minimum whilst being in the title race too.
One of the two sides will finish top 4 and that will be an excellent achievement. I don't buy into the idea that whoever it is doesn't deserve it "for being the best of the rest of a bad bunch". The league will play out as it does and the team who gets 4th will deserve it.
Neither team will win the CL next year but that doesn't mean that neither are ready to play in it or don't deserve to be in it so should just be in the Europa League instead.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Good post, agree. The league is not that strong this year but doesn`t mean whoever gets 4th won`t deserve it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep, this touched on the obvious summer narrative that Spurs "bottled it again" if they do end up 5th. Truth is Spurs are only as close as they are because Arsenal "bottled it" by letting a giant lead slip.
Obviously Arsenal don't "bottle it" because they are still ( after a decade ) still "a young teams" who are "developing"
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Has anyone said this over the last decade other than this season? The reality is for the last 10 years we have been spending more on older players who are ready made in an attempt to bridge the gap quickly and it hasn't worked so we've gone the other way especially buying a younger group of players last summer who were 21-23 to offset some of the other youngsters we already had.
No ifs, no buts, Spurs need to go to
