By the way, does anyone know whether VAR is in play tonight? Hope so, we’ve had some pretty rum officiating decisions against us recently at other levels within the club!
Looking forward to it sph.
As you pointed out, the clubs are level on points in the table, so this could be a close match.
Speaks volumes when Utd get better attendance for an under-18 tie than the first team. Great credit to both clubs, can’t image too many under-18’s will have faced an atmosphere like this is going to be, just hope they don’t freeze. It’s going to be a fantastic occasion regardless of whoever wins, one I’m sure both squads will remember for a very long time. Hopefully Forest will get the silverware, but no matter what, just enjoy it. Really bodes we’ll for the future for Forest with all teams doing well at all levels, it’s what we’ve hoped for, for a very long time. Be great to see some of these lads in the first team, or at least first team squad in the not too distant future. Forest to edge this one 2-1, fingers crossed.

It speaks volumes of the United fan base's attachment to the heritage of the academy. Attendance won't be better than first team games though: it sells out for PL games, with attendance averaging 72,000+ across the season.
As you pointed out, the clubs are level on points in the table, so this could be a close match.

Not sure the league position is that relevant for this one, as your Cup side for tonight is likely to include players that normally play at a higher level (as mentioned on the other thread). To an extent, we are similar – with tonight’s NFFC team likely to include players that play regularly for the U23’s.

What do you mean? The lowest attendance this year was 71,800 for 'Boro, almost every other game's been over 73,000.
You know tickets are a quid, right?
Yes I realise tickets are a quid, but how many of your 73,000+ are corporate, compared to tonight’s who will actually be true football fans. Doubt there’ll be many/any corporate, is my point.

But if that was your point, what does it 'speak volumes' about? United sell out tickets to all of their senior games. If you're right that more tickets are available for the Youth Cup final and therefore more tickets have been sold to fans than for a PL game, it doesn't mean that there is more demand for youth tickets. It just means there's more supply, and demand for both PL and the Youth Cup final are high.
The difference is, youth football attracts what I consider to be proper football fans, corporate are the prawn sarnie brigade. It’s great that demand is high, especially for the true fan.
We always used to get a big attendance for the youth cup final whenever we made it there in the past.
Right now it has extra significance of course as the first team is a shambles.

I don't think you meant that at all.

NO-ONE has got anything like the numbers expected tonight. The highest (before today) was the semi-final you had with Arsenal a few years back.

That's a potential excuse - but we all know the real reason is that the mighty Forest are in town - that's the big draw!

There will be a lot of day trippers and families attending tonight purely because they cannot usually get tickets due to the 50k season ticket holders and corporate tickets you speak of. For a lot of people the chance to take your kids/family or even yourself to OT for £1 each is a chance that won’t come around often. It won’t be 70k die hard reds at all, but there will be a good amount of them for sure.

All the top reds will be on here from their bedrooms
Anyhows..
Good luck everyone. I am sure 'chile will chip-in with some team news or something.
COME ON YOU REDS!! (although we could be in the 'blood and custard' strip tonight!
Maybe someone has already answered but how did we get the home draw for the final?

just how many of the 73K that watch United each week do you think are what you call 'corporate' and 'true' fans?
The 'proper' fans are the ones who go each week and tonight's attendance will be made up of mainly them. Again.

From the FA website:
"United take home advantage for the Final, after they were drawn out first when the semi-final and Final draw took place in February."
Ah, thats a bit of luck. Although I'm sure both sets of players must be buzzing playing for such a big crowd.
