Why include Greenwood? The club have very little influence if someone is a flat out cuunt

McT and Williams were never touted as more than squad players... Rashy has nose dived.

This isn't the first time we've had a talented youth player with off the field issues. Maybe they're just not worth the trouble.

As for Rashford, maybe he's been burnt out by playing almost every game for the last few years, and through injury. Psychologically it must have taken its toll and it doesn't look like he enjoys playing anymore.

Rashford has looked sluggish physically and technically.

Touch has been off and there hasn't been a zip about his running.

When you factor in he was busy all last summer for little reward then thrown under a bus at the last minute, then had an op which meant he had no pre-season training whatsoever, not a surprise that his form has been more than a bit cack.

That's the first United supporter I've ever heard suggest that youth players aren't worth the trouble!

Looking forward to seeing Garnacho, Hugill, McNeill and the rest tonight, I've got high hopes for some of them

Rashford really shouldn’t have gone to the Euros. He should have had his op, rested, rested some more, then gone back to training fresh and rehabilitated.

I’m sure it will have been his decision, but it looks like a disastrous one now.

It does. Apart from the obvious physical problems he's had I'm also inclined to agree with a previous comment that he looks like he's not enjoying the game any more. United *must* have a sports psychology department, you'd think an asset like Marcus is getting all the help we can give him.

I've said this a few times before, but go back and look at the Rashford who broke into the team; happy, smiling, energetic. He looks nothing like that same person anymore. He walks around the pitch looking like he's carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. He doesn't make an effort to track back or put in a shift. It's a bizarre fall from grace. You'd at least expect a bit of effort.

There's something very wrong there with Rashford and I don't think it's injury-related. He looks totally lost.

In terms of the squad this season, we also have Hendo, Jesse, Rashford and Elanga.

Plus a few others now knocking on the door.

In terms of the op, McT was never really going to be anything more than a squad player.

Greenwood I think was progressing ok until recent events.

Rashford hasn't developed as we had hoped, but I think that is mainly down to injury - especially the back injury. He has never been the same player since then.

I'd love to see ETH come in and make him the main striker, tell him he believes in him and see what he can do. I think that he has had too much be shunted around to different positions. Probably feels like he has deserved a chance at being the main man. That said, it is hard to justify him pushing Ronaldo out of that spot.

Player development has been a bigger problem at this club than recruitment. I don’t think any player, apart from De Gea, has really lived up to their potential since coming to the club. That goes beyond bad recruitment.

You could argue that's been influenced by a merry go round of managers bringing in their own players to suit their own styles (which isn't an excuse for the level of incompetence from the top of the club down).

Tbf you can understand why Rashford may have lost that youthful joy and enthusiasm for the game when you see what he’s had to play under his entire senior career. 8 seasons of no real direction, 4 different managers, owners who have no idea or care for the club and other players around him that have seemingly stopped caring could make plenty of players lose their will to care themselves.

I hope not but maybe a change of club is what he needs for his own good.

posted on 11/5/22

I’m sure that’s part of the problem, but I don’t think it’s any one thing. We aren’t alone in having a regular change of managers, but I doubt you’ll find many clubs that have ruined as many careers as we have.

Apart from Pogba, and the debacle of not keeping him, united haven't had a single academy graduate that was fit the lace the boots of any player from top ten EPL side since the early 90s. What's the point in running a production line of ordinary players for lesser clubs.

It's a ridiculous, and careless, approach to running a club that has a history like United.

It is possible that the suggested new coach, who has genuine academy experience, will get to grips with the situation.

But even so, that is a real long term job.
