If you had chillwell you would be champions

Yours to lose next season if he’s back

As a total neutral, thought TT kept Stormzy on too long. Werner, for all his faults, would surely have been a threat with his pace in ET? Liverpool started superbly, but their team got progressively weaker as they lost key players to injury and then had to sub the very dangerous Diaz. Thought Chelsea might really go for it then, but didn’t really happen. Could still have gone either way though.

The reality is for any English side is that you almost certainly have to conquer either City or Liverpool or both to win a trophy. Those two sides could compete with the very best in history

I wouldn't say that Gaffa, their might well be quite a few changes this summer, all around the club ! but we will almost certainly have an interesting season again and won't die of boredom !

The positive must be that you stopped Liverpool from scoring over 4 hours of football in the 2 finals.

I know Pranks is joking but actually I think James and Chilwell both showed they are comfortable at the top level, you have mRWB and LWB sorted for the foreseeable future. Their freedom to get forward though was build on solid CB foundations - Silva can’t go on forever, Azpi looked his age a bit this year and Rudiger and AC both off, big defensive overhaul needed.

Impressed by what I saw of Kovacic this year. And I’ve always liked Mount as a player.

Get the defence right and add one top quality forward (am i right in reading Ziyech will probably leave?) and you’re not too far away. Although what you do with Lukaku at this point is an issue. Rebuild his confidence or cut losses - tough choice.

I know hindsight is a clever buggger but I can’t believe our only competition for Diaz was Spurs!

I can't agree, I couldn't ever during the game ,see Chelsea winning it, Liverpool were better all over the park, and el Plumpo up front should go and have a trial with the Harlequins ! but I don't think they would be impressed with his attitude or his behaviour.

They play 3 cb’s so their full/wing backs should have more license to attack however that does leave their midfield a little lite and I think that showed yesterday.
Good game yesterday, and pretty tasty for 0-0.

Yeah Chelsea have some issues at CB, and they sold guehi and tomori. Maybe they have some more talent at cb in their 4 squads worth out on loan ? they might need it.

Chelseas squad on paper and what it cost is very strong. Lukaku/Werner/Havertz have been a disappointment infront of goal. Ziyech been too injury prone, as has Pulisic. For the talent there and what it cost must be ahuge worry.

That said i still stand by what i said TT does not change it up at all or help, does he have a plan B? Surely a different formation and some more attacking lineups would help? Has he tried? idr him trying? Stuck with the 5 at the back 2 dms even when RJ and Chillwell got injured.. big opportunity to change it up when that happened. At the start of the season Chelsea were scraping games with a solid defence and relying on goals from those defenders and their biggest threat was the wingbacks and set pieces. Fullbacks gone he still stuck with it even though wingbacks injured and no longer scraping tight wins.

gd cup team tactics though guess thats why you were in two finals

all things considered TT done a decent job and he seems a nice guy, good for the prem. I did expect a bit more experimenting from him with the squad Chelsea have he should be getting the best or atleast a lot more out of some of them players, i think a lot of them are hindered by his preferred setup. And since hes never changing it even when losing 2 key wingbacks they probably need selling and using the funds to bring in players suited to it.

Actually think Chelsea have an immense squad. If the roman stuff hadn't blown up I'm sure if TT had had the same drop off he'd be under the spotlight. At the same time I do admit the Roman stuff may have been a factor too, so it is hard to gauge. Just feel some other managers may have got more out of the Chelsea squad in the 2nd half of the season. Obv I could be wrong just seems like he hasn't got the best out of Lukaku and you seem so solid everywhere else.

We have had an unusual season this year in the P/L, what with covid and the war going on and a loony government blustering about, but we mustn't forget that next season with the World Cup coming along in the middle of the season to boot ! is going to be every bit as chaotic ,call it what you will, as this season !

Well not really Harle as the World Cup will affect everyone, not just us. What Chelsea have had to go through this season is unprecedented in football history. And that we've come out of it with two trophies as well as getting to penalty shootouts in both domestic Finals is credit to the manager.

Without scoring or conceding a goal in open play.

Superb, I know the WC will affect everyone, that's precisely why I think that chaos could reign at some clubs and at some points next season, maybe I'm wrong ,we shall have to wait and see !

posted on 15/5/22

It won't help City one bit, most of the squad will be on WC duty.

Chelsea need to rebuild. Very unlikely we will be challenging for the title next season.

Kante is in rapid decline and can no longer dominate games in a midfield 2. Rudiger gone, Silva another year older, Azpi in decline, AC gone.

No genuine main goalthreat up front and a GK whose poor kicking and distribution invites pressure on the team and leads to momentum shifts.

Conor coming back will be a bonus and maybe Gilmour too, but there are way too many issues to address with our squad to be challenging for the title.

I was thinking about this today. This has been a bad season, and yet we've reached two finals, won two trophies, went out the best way in the CL (as the better team) and will probably finish 3rd only behind two of the best PL teams ever. Yet, bad season.

This club is extraordinary, it really is

We have to buck the trend though Devil.

Teams like Liverpool, Arsenal and Man U, when they lost their title winning dominance then becamse regular top 4 sides for a sustained period, but then fell away even as a top 4 team.

We need to make sure we dodn't follow suit, but jump back up from a top 4 team to a title challenging team.

What two trophies have Chelsea won this season? I mean proper trophies not Emirates cup type trophies?

First there's the Super Cup, which is the winner of the Champions League against the winner of the Europa League. Don't worry Sandy it's not a match your team will ever play in so no need to worry about this one.

And the Club World Cup, making us official FIFA Champions of the World

So no definitely not the Emirates Cup whatever that is.
